1 Night, 2 Rounds
Set in the heart of Hertfordshire's countryside, Hanbury Manor is a Jacobean-style manor house spread across more than 200 acres of parkland, just 25 miles north of central London. If you're coming for the golf, you'll be well looked after, but it also works brilliantly as a spa-and-country-house break for non-golfers or mixed groups.
On site you'll find 161 rooms and suites, two bars and restaurants, a spa and leisure club with a modern fitness centre and 13 meeting and event spaces. Golf is the headline act, with a championship course redesigned by Jack Nicklaus II from a Harry Vardon original design, plus a pro shop and an indoor simulator for warm-ups or coaching.
The course has a strong tournament record, hosting the English Open three times as well as the 2023 and 2024 Legends Tour and, most recently, the 2025 Rose Ladies Open. Located just 25 miles north of central London, Hanbury Manor is a favourite for those looking to swap the capital for a countryside escape without a long drive.
Who is this for?
Golf groups and societies who want a quality parkland course with great on-site facilities, plus couples and mixed groups where some will play and others will head to the spa.
Who is it best for?
London and South East golfers after a weekend break with minimal travel time, mid-handicappers who enjoy a championship-style test and corporate parties combining meetings with golf.

The course was originally conceived by Harry Vardon, winner of a record six Open Championships, who designed the holes to fit around the elegant family home in 1890. Since then, Jack Nicklaus Junior was commissioned to reinvigorate the course and make sure that it was relevant to the rigours of the modern professional game.
The result is astounding, as the 7,052 layout is now among the country's elite and is a true pleasure to play. The mature trees and expanses of water that characterise the estate make for a spectacular landscape, helping to explain why Hanbury Manor is regarded as one of the finest destinations for a golf break in all of England. In 2025, Hanbury Manor was proudly inducted into the prestigious Eminent Collection by the respected 59club.
On the tough 8th, be sure to hit the fairway, otherwise your approach to the closely guarded plateau green will be even more difficult, and could end in a watery grave.
The Legends Tour has visited Hanbury Manor in 2023 & 2024 while the Rose Ladies Open was held there in 2025.

Hanbury Manor is often described as 'London's Country Retreat', and it's easy to see why. The opulent hotel and estate sit just 25 miles from the city's hub, tucked away in Ware, Hertfordshire, within a 200-acre estate that enchants guests with fragrant walled gardens and a striking Jacobean-style mansion house.
The 161 guest bedrooms all offer deluxe accommodation across three distinct areas: the Manor House, Orchard Wing and Garden Court. Manor House rooms deliver the full country-house experience, with period features, elegant furnishings and views over the estate. The Orchard Wing offers a more contemporary feel with modern comforts and easy access to the leisure facilities, while Garden Court rooms provide a quieter, parkland setting ideal for those who want a peaceful base after a day on the course.
The public areas are delightfully elegant, not least the library, whose panelled walls reflect the light from the roaring open fire during the winter months. After 18 holes, the library is a cracking spot for a quiet drink, especially in winter when the fire's going and you can settle in with a view over the estate.

Rooms were great. Staff really helpful. Food was good. Bar was quiet, not very lively for groups of men, better to go out in Ware in the evening. Bar open till 1:00am though on site. Breakfast was really good, lots to choose from.

Staff in the pro shop were really helpful. Halfway hut does really good cooked food. Afternoon tee time means it might not be open by the time you have played the front 9. Didn’t see much of the drinks buggy on the way round and if you did it didn’t have beers on it. The course is really good. Greens were great and pace of play was good. Front 9 is a long slog of a walk but the back 9 is better for walking. Driving range isn’t very good, can’t hit a driver or wood on it. Practice greens were good though. The course is a really good test of golf, front 9 completely different to the back 9.

Booked 2 rounds and overnight stay. First afternoon round was v slow and they give preference to 4 balls. Really beautiful, well kept course - with fantastic views. Some issue with morning tee time on 2nd day as we were bumped back from original tee time at booking. The golf pro and his team really helpful and in the end we played the back 9 before the front 9 and had the first 9 holes to ourselves!
