The hotel was adequate for what we was doing playing golf, the main issues were the food was not as I would like, if you required a spoon of any sort you had to ask for one so there was clearly a big shortage but the biggest problem we all found was very very poor Internet service and this was only accessible in the Hotel reception we all said we would not return to this hotel again

Hotel Riu Tikida Gardens is a relaxing haven although with Marrakech on the doorstep the vibrant buzz of Moroccan street life is never too far away.
As expected really, comfortable, food was pleasant and central to the courses we played.
Quite a basic hotel compared to other all inclusive packages Ive been on. Food seemed cold first couple of days til we did a questionnaire and then it was better. Lots of carbs at snack times and repetitive but they did give me a gluten free roll for breakfast. Reception very helpful. Rooms quite basic with one dispenser in bathroom as body wash and hair wash. Entertainment was very basic with people making fools of themselves which is fine if you like that. Had two evenings with an African Theme and Morrocan theme which was very good. Drinks behind the bar are very limited but there is bottles of water available when you want one. As we were golfing it met lot needs but would prefer a classier place if we went to Marrakech again.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Food very varied, fresh and tasty. Location 15 mins from centre. Choice of wine limited but plentiful. Would definitely recommend it.
This hotel is ok for golfers on a trip, but overall it is "tired" and in need of a makeover. The bedroom and bathroom in particular are very dated. Think Post House Hotels - 1970's !!
Considering that there's virtually nothing happening outside of the gates of this hotel, i would've expected more going on inside the hotel. Entertainment was almost negligible, but what little there was managed to outshine the hotel's WiFi which was almost non existent making contact with family and friends back home almost impossible. The golf was great as were the courses but the boredom everybody experienced back at the hotel just led to Most of the party drinking just to try and alleviate it....
Excellent base for a golf break All 5 courses we played were within half an hour transfer.
In general the hotel is fine but is a little tired in places the rooms are generously large and cleaned daily.the food is ok but there isn't the greatest selection although you can get food all hours of the day. The bar staff are all very friendly and professional but all the drinks seemed to lack enough alcohol although I did find the rose wine seemed to do the trick one night lol the only other problem was the bars closed to early 11.30 the entertainment was shocking they would have done a lot better turning the entertainment room into a disco but that's just personal preference.the reception staff were excellent and very helpfull. Overall the hotel was fine for our party as we were away for a golfing holiday but if I was away with my family I think I would have got bored quite quickly with the general hotel experience.
We had a great holiday and very much enjoyed the golf. The hotel was ok but not, in our opinion 4*. It was mainly let down by the food. It was a little repetitive and uninspiring compared to say the Hotels in Belek, having said that there were no complaints from the 4 boys and nobody went hungry. Also, the pool was freezing so it was a no go, which was a shame. The staff were fabulous, very friendly and the service was very good.
As for the golf courses we found them as follows:
The Palm - we found this course very interesting. Every hole was different, with plenty of dog legs and water to keep you on your toes. Fabulous clubhouse and we received a warm welcome.
The Royal Marrakesh - this received mixed reviews, some liked it, others found the holes a bit repetitive and uninteresting. The clubhouse was just temporary portacabins which was a shame. Each group had to have a caddie. Ours was great. Our son, who plays off 3 had him and loved it. Abdul was friendly and quite chatty, however the other groups caddy apparently was the opposite. He caddied Shaun who is 24 and plays off 5 and on the 18th par 4 he eagled the hole, which did impress the caddy!
The Noria - great course, 8th hole, par 3 across a huge oblong water feature was the hole of the holiday! Lovely course enjoyed by all. The clubhouse was new and expressive. However, unfortunately for us they haven't yet got their alcohol licence so we didn't hang about after.
Al Maaden - without doubt the favourite one played. Loved the course, it had everything, water, ridiculous amount of bunkers, tricky greens but a good challenge for all our handicaps. The clubhouse was impressive too. We received a warm welcome and it was great to finish on such a course.
Overall we had a great holiday, we had 2 X 22 and 2 X 24 year old boys with us and they didn't moan about anything which is a huge compliment believe me. The chap that chauffeured us about all week was very polite, always on time and very chatty which was lovely.
To be honest I don't think we would stay in this Hotel again but would consider another golf holiday in Marrakesh. As a returning customer I would expect there to be a greater incentive than £25 to book again.
Thank you for all your help in organising this trip. Everything ran smoothly and it was hassle free.
While visiting Morocco, we stayed in the Riu Tikida Garden. This is a 4 star hotel, we were on an all inclusive package and we were delighted with all aspects of the hotel.
Food was very good and varied; we particularly enjoyed the range of salad starters and the Moroccan food. We also ate twice in the 1001 Nights Moroccan restaurant and we would particularly recommend this.
Our room was also excellent and the hotel facilities were good; tennis courts, gym, pools, badminton, boules etc.
There was also regular evening entertainment if you wanted it. Drinks were great and the Mojitos to die for!
All the staff were warm, friendly and exceedingly helpful.
All the golf courses we played were very good and the weather in February was excellent. What a delight to play in such excellent conditions at this time of the year! We played 4 courses over the 7 days and we would play them all again willingly but our scores out of 10 were as follows...
Al Maaden – 7 – Nice course but perhaps not quite up to the quality of the others
Palmeraie – 7/8 – We played holes 1to 9 and then 19 to 27. 19 to 27 are the newest 9 and are an absolute delight. In terms of a golfing challenge these were the best 9 holes we played on the holiday
Amelkis – 8 – Great course although very busy
Samanah – Really pleased we played this last. A definite 10 and probably the best conditioned golf course I have ever played. Greens, fairways and fringes/ semi rough and bunkers were all immaculate and what a backdrop with the snow clad Atlas Mountains overlooking the course!
The welcome at all 4 courses was warm and friendly. We played 2 rounds with buggies and 2 rounds with caddies. The caddies were great and I would recommend going with this option as they definitely added to our enjoyment. Facilities are excellent and all 4 courses had great practise facilities and lovely clubhouses. Drinks and food were very reasonably priced too.
Overall marks out of 10, We'd have to give it a 9. Very very
Before going to Marrakech on our golfing break, everybody that we told had the same reaction – golfing in Marrakech??? Well for all those people who questioned it as a venue for a golfing break, please think again!
From the moment we got picked up from the airport we felt welcomed. The driver gave us a mini tour on the way to the hotel, and the hotel itself (Riu Tikida Garden) was an oasis of peace and tranquillity amongst the dry and bustling world of Marrakech. Everything you expect from a Riu hotel was delivered – top quality food and service, cleanliness and superb facilities.
The golf itself, I personally believe, is on a par with anything that Spain etc has to offer, and in the Samanah Golf Resort, Marrakech has something really special. This is a truly beautiful course, with possibly the fastest and truest greens I have ever played. A real challenge.
Each course we played (we played Palmeraie, Al Maaden, Amelkis and Samanah) had its own little challenges but each came with the exact same welcome and attention to detail. We were a group of 8, ranging from 12 to 28 handicaps, and the golf was true test for all.
I would definitely recommend getting caddies for at least a couple of the rounds. Our first round at the Palmeraie course with caddies was probably the best fun I have had on a golf course! Within 3 holes my caddy knew more about my game than I did, and the banter between us all was great.
In general the 19th hole was quite expensive for a beer, but limiting it to one, and then back to the All Inclusive bar at the Hotel, made sure we didn’t hurt the pocket too much!
I almost didn’t write this review as it would be nice to keep it a secret! However, I have already recommended this to 2 other golfing groups who appear very interested in booking a trip, as the value for money alone is outstanding.
We will definitely be booking another trip to Morocco and
with YGT. I would also seriously consider this as a venue for your next trip –
I don’t think you will be disappointed.
