Perched on the Ayrshire coast with a front-row view of Royal Troon's legendary 18th hole, Marine Troon is a boutique golf hotel that blends 120 years of heritage with modern luxury. Part of the Marine & Lawn collection, it sits in one of golf's most storied settings, where the Old Course at Royal Troon meets the dramatic sweep of the Clyde Coast and the Isle of Arran beyond.
Step outside and, well, you're basically on Royal Troon's doorstep, which is about as good as it gets if you're ticking off Open venues. Look out from your room and you'll see the coastline stretch north, the waves rolling in off the Firth of Clyde, and the finishing holes of a course that has hosted The Open eight times. Set right on the Ayrshire shoreline, it's a cracking base if you love classic links scenery and those big sea views you get on Scotland's best seaside golf courses.
The hotel itself has been welcoming golfers since the early 1900s, and that tradition shows in the way the place runs. It knows golfers' schedules, early starts, post-round hunger and the need for a proper wind-down. Between the beach on one side and Troon's finishing holes on the other, it leans hard into what you're here for: links golf, sea air and an easy, comfortable base.
The grounds are worth exploring, whether you're walking the beach, taking in the sea air, or sneaking in some putting practice on the hotel's private green overlooking the Old Course. You can see the Isle of Arran from the hotel, and the stretch of coastline north along the Clyde is properly dramatic, especially when the light's right.
Who is this for?
Golfers seeking a boutique stay on the Ayrshire coast with direct access to Royal Troon and the region's championship links, couples wanting coastal views and spa facilities, and groups looking for a base that combines golf heritage with modern comfort and quality dining.
Who is it best for?
Open Championship venue collectors who want to be steps from Royal Troon's 18th green, serious golfers building an Ayrshire multi-links tour, and anyone looking for a characterful hotel that understands what golfers need before and after a round.

Marine Troon offers a range of rooms and suites designed to suit different stays, from plush doubles to spacious suites with elevated coastal touches and luxe décor. The "Marine" rooms have been freshly updated to celebrate Troon's seaside charm, while the "Sea View" rooms deliver unforgettable views along the Ayrshire coastline, with some overlooking the legendary Royal Troon Golf Club itself. Whether you're here for a quick overnight or a longer stay, the rooms are built around comfort, quality and that sense of place that comes from being right on the coast.
The Rabbit restaurant is the hotel's main dining room, named after Hole 17, Royal Troon's trickiest par three, which you can see from the window. It's a welcoming setting for any meal, from casual breakfasts and afternoon tea to tasty dinners and all-out celebrations. Expect smart, modern cooking in a relaxed setting, ideal for anything from breakfast through to a proper dinner after 18.
For something more relaxed, The Seal bar, named after Royal Troon's opening hole, is a come-as-you-are spot where you can drop in for drinks or a meal any time of day. You can see the first hole from the bar, and it's the kind of place where you can settle in after a round, swap stories about the wind on the back nine, and enjoy a pint or a bite without any fuss.
The on-site spa is a real highlight, featuring a wide range of restorative treatments in partnership with UK skincare specialists ishga and Made For Life Organics. The treatment menu includes indulgent facials and body treatments using natural products, perfect for unwinding after a day on the links. Guests also have access to the leisure facilities, including a heated indoor pool with views of the coast, sauna, squash court and gym, so you can stretch out, relax, and get ready for the next round.
Royal Troon is the headline act and the hotel's position beside the closing holes makes it feel properly 'in the golf'. If you're travelling with a group, it's worth planning tee times early, especially in peak season, as demand for Open rota courses is high year-round. The Old Course is a classic out-and-back links that starts gently along the coast before turning back into the prevailing wind, and the stretch from the 8th (the famous Postage Stamp) through to the finish is as good as links golf gets.
The wider Ayrshire coast is stacked with quality links too, so you can build a brilliant multi-round break without spending your life in the car. Western Gailes, Dundonald Links, Prestwick and Glasgow Gailes are all within a 20-minute drive, and each offers a different test and a different slice of Scottish links character. Troon itself is a handy base, with straightforward road and rail links from Glasgow and Prestwick airports, and plenty of scope to mix serious golf with beach walks and a spa session.
If you want help stitching it together, speak to our team and we'll suggest the best nearby rounds for your dates and handicap mix, then package the hotel and golf into one easy booking.

The place to stay! Waking up each morning and looking over Royal Troon's 18th...hard to beat. The room, food, and staff were all first rate!

The lack of variety on the menu let it down, they have a much better menu on the website than at the hotel.

Great location, a little rundown place, small rooms, good breakfast with no variations from one day to the next
