Penang Golf Club

Since opening in 1984, Penang Golf Club has established itself as one of Malaysia's leading courses. Back in 1992, it hosted the Malaysian Open where Vijay Singh was victorious and has since changed its name from the Bukit Jambul Golf Club and been reopened back in 2012.

The course is designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr and is the only championship golf course on the Penang Island and just a 10 minute drive from the local airport.

Penang Golf Club

The course plays at a modest 6,300 yards but the length is not what will test golfers round this Robert Trent Jones Jr parkland layout as golfers will have to be extremely accurate. With Bermuda grass on the tee boxes and fairways and tif eagle shaping the fast greens, the conditions are impeccable at Penang Golf Club. Navigating through the tight tree-lined holes and onto the lightning fast green, there is little respite from the copious challenges that await. As you make your way round, you'll be met with some of the most stunning vegetation including Yellow Flame, Rambutan as well as views of mainland Penang and the two bridges which connect the island. Without an official signature hole, the par-4 10th is often lauded as a favourite amongst players. The new Penang Bridge acts as a backdrop as you tee off on an elevated tee box, 100 feet above the fairway and hit down towards strategically placed bunkers before approaching a devastating sloping green.

Off the course, golfers can get some practice in on the two-tier driving range. If you've had enough golf for the day but still want to get your blood pumping then take to one of the squash courts, challenge yourself in the snooker room or fit in a workout in the gym.

The clubhouse also boasts some impressive dining options with The Sakurajima Restaurant which serves up Chinese and Japanese cuisine with some traditional dishes including the finest meats and seafood.
