Rushmore Golf Club
The Rushmore Estate lies within the Cranborne Chase which was the famous deer forest where King John came to hunt. The place is rich in history and now thanks to the efforts of Lt General Pitt Rivers in 1880, it is a haven for flora and fauna as he was the man who created a deer park (where the golf course now lies) and also planted a whole host of beech trees allowing other plants to flourish.

Rushmore Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole course which is set high on the chalk of the Cranborne Chase. It boasts the unusual set up of having one set of 9 holes in Wiltshire and the other set of 9 holes in Dorset, but despite crossing county borders the beautiful scenery that the golf course is set it does not change. Due to the chalk that the course is set in, it provides a free drainage system all year round meaning that the course is in fantastic shape throughout the year. The course is an extremely clever piece of golfing architecture as it combines the historical background of the Rushmore estate with a modern set of 18 holes designed to provide an interesting challenge for golfers of all abilities. The front nine winds it through the old deer fields and joins the back nine just before crossing the “Shire Rack” into Dorset which gifts players an incredible view of the South Coast. The course is perfect for testing both the ability to give it a good old fashioned ‘whack’ off the tee but also is a tough mental evaluation of a golfer’s course management skills.
