Selsdon Estate Golf Club

The mature woodland that characterises the area provides the perfect backdrop for this established parkland course, where the elevated greens and luscious fairways are bordered by banks of sycamore, beech, oak, cedar and silver birch. The 6,473 yard layout is an interesting blend of short par-4s and long par-5s, four of which surpass 500 yards.

The best hole is arguably the second, a formidable test that demands an approach shot uphill to a plateau green, with little margin for error. Selsdon Park's beautiful scenery will charm all those who visit, while the esteemed J.H. Taylor's course provides a superb but playable challenge for your golf break.

Selsdon Park's claim to fame is an impressive one: during the 1981 Ryder Cup at Walton Heath, the European team stayed and practiced at Selsdon!

Hotel in general was very good. Golf changing rooms were not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. Showers did not work and changing rooms felt dirty. Same for the jacuzzi in the spa. Looked like it hadnt been cleaned for a very long time. Staff in the restaurants did not seem to know what they were doing or what they were serving. The food in general was very good though.

This is our second time at Selsdon Estate for 3 days golf and 2 nights stay B&B and evening meal. From the moment we arrived to the time we departed all of the staff were very efficient, polite and completed every request without question. The quality of the meals was excellent and the 20% discount on the drinks was most welcome. Yourgolftravel arranged our trip in their usual professional manner and all parts of our trip were enjoyed by all of our group.

Great location and building and I'm sure when they finish the revamp it will be very pleasant. The reception check-in was very poor with few staff to attend to the guests. Yes there was a big party on but several staff were seen but without providing any assistance so it took over 20 mins to be served. The bars and restaurant were adequate but the food was not really at a level you would expect to receive at a location like this, not quite A la Carte and more Weatherspoons (which is just down the road btw). Most of our party had refurbished rooms but the bathrooms left a little to be desired. Very small and the water pressure was not the best. The environment and grounds were a pleasure to enjoy and the Spa facility was in good order

Staff and restaurant were excellent but the room had seen better days and didn’t look like it had been cleaned properly with mould all over the shower head and with a toilet that didn’t flush. A very average stay

In general the hotel is in need of some refurbishment. The room was dated and the furnishings etc in need of updating. We were extremely disappointed that there was nowhere to watch the football or the final round of the fed ex cup golf in the bars or lounges of the hotel on Sunday afternoon, evening. Nobody could get the tv in one of the lounges to work!!!!!! This is very poor was a hotel of this standing

We had very wet weather on the first day but the course held up very well. As mentioned in my review on the hotel, we used the golf changing rooms as we were soaked through but the showers did not work and the changing rooms felt very dirty.

We would like to thank Caroline and the other staff in the Pro Shop for their patience with our group they could not have been more helpful. The course is challenging for us as we are used to playing on a links course but that is part of the fun and we do not see Muntjac deer at Westgate.

The course had a great layout with some lovely looking holes and the potential is very high but unfortunately was in poor condition. All tees were forward, the greens had been hollow tined some time ago and lots of sand thrown on but just not maintained. It was extremely wet and boggy on the fairways without any rain in the last week. The changing facilities (if you could find them)are extremely poor and in much need of a revamp. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Nice course, great views, good layout. Greens were bobbly and slow, not in great condition. 50% of the holes were very, very muddy (even though it hd not rained for a week). No air compressor to clean your shoes or trolley afterwards and they were CAKED in mud. Only solution was a hose which you had to put your thumb over for pressure but when you did this it flew off the tap. The frustrating thing about this was when you had eventually finished trying to get the mud off, you had to walk through mud again to turn the tap off!

Decent and interesting course with a lot of dips and hills. Not in the greatest condition with patchy fairways and greens. Not bad

Good pace of play, never held up. The 17th green was a centre of much hilarity by everyone on the course as it was almost impossible to hole out due to the positioning of the pin and the speed of the green. Laughter could be heard whenever in the vicinity of the green. Over the 2 rounds only a total 2 points scored on this hole by ALL 4 players
