The superb landscape is characterised by the beautiful woodland, streams and ponds, all of which contribute to a truly incredible backdrop for both the golf course and the house itself.
Designed by Donald Steel, who has been involved with countless links golf projects, there is little surprise that there is a Scottish accent to Stapleford, with influences taken from the seaside; the bunkers are revetted, and there are few holes that run in the same direction, while it is also possible to chase the ball onto the green from the front, making it very playable for golfers of all abilities.
Among those to endorse Stapleford Park's credentials is Sam Torrance, Ryder Cup-winning player and captain, who believes the course to be one of England's best hidden gems. Set in the spectacular 500 acre estate, there can be few more luxurious choices for a fabulous golf break or corporate golf day.
Stapleford Park's Championship Golf course became the East Midlandsfirst European Senior Tour venue when it hosted the Handa Senior Mastersin 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Stapleford Park is one of the country's most exquisite stately homes, with a rich array of architecture, horticulture and history. The house and its gardens have a pedigree dating back to the 14th century, and the 500 acre estate is one England's most beautiful settings.
The highlight of the hotel is the range of guest rooms - every one is individually designed and furnished, with famous names like Coca Cola, Mulberry, Pirelli, Sanderson and Wedgwood among those to have lent their creative influence.
Visitors can choose the superb suite which they feel reflects their own personality best, making a visit to Stapleford Park a truly personal experience. If you can drag yourself out of the bedroom, the estate has some of the best leisure, dining and activity facilities around, in addition to Donald Steel's outstanding golf course.
The Spa at Stapleford Park is a high-end facility, specialising in cutting edge health and beauty therapy. Featured treatments are Indian head massage, aromatherapy, reiki, and reflexology for men and women, all complemented by the outstanding range of Clarins products. The leisure centre also has a state-of-the-art gym, a 22-metre swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and an outdoor sunbathing terrace. The colossal estate allows guests to try their hands at tennis, croquet, giant chess, riding, falconry, shooting, archery, off-road driving, mountain-biking and fishing.
A truly super experience, can not speak highly enough of the staff and thd the food
A grand scale period house with matching and modernised fittings and furniture accompanying, which was very much enjoyed during our ( 4 golfers ) stay in mid-September 2019. The costs were very reasonable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel . All the staff were so friendly and helpful . The meals were delicious and the service excellent
The staff were very welcoming and friendly . The food in the restaurant was excellent . The Christmas decorations were beautiful
Excellent boutique style hotel of approx. 55 rooms. All the rooms were individual so you didn't feel like you were in a branded hotel group. Staff were all very courteous and couldn't do enough to help.
Staff very obliging, food excellent understand it is on the market so hope next owner maintains standard
The only major downside was the bar prices and in particualr the mixers. Typically £5.50 for a single measure of spirit but then £3+ for a mixer and when you have 28 golfers drinking into th small hours it becomes costly yet profitable for the venue ! The other thing that did catch us out was the additional charges for Saturday dinner (not Sunday) when I had paid for DBB for two nights. The Golf course is an unusual but interesting lay out but challenging for all levels of golf (best to play of the yellow tees). Most welcoming and friendly of venues and cannot really fault any aspect. A great place for a Romantic & Spa break as well as a golfing break with good facilities (Pro shop could do with a little more to offer as it is very small and sparse). I would visit the venue again.

After all the rain we had to carry our cubs on the first day but the second day the pro put himself out so we could use our trolleys. Considering the conditions the course was in an excellent condition and the greens. It was extremely wet under foot in places it thoroughly enjoyed the golf.
A long walk! Long course as well as long walks between greens and tees. Rather wet due to a lot of overnight rain.
A flat grassland Course with off-fairways unforgiving thick grass gobbling up off-target balls. Otherwise, fairly generous, but long and few lateral water hazards.. Short targeting would be advisable in general play - to avoid off-fairways thick grass.
No pressure from anyone. A stunning course .
The staff were very friendly and helpful .everyone was very polite on the course . The course was very interesting with the different hazards and challenging
Course is a fairly long links style course. Bunkers all consistent standard of sand. Greens were fairly huge with big undulations which made them difficult to read. Condition of greens were first class with true rolling puts every time.
Unfortunately played in very windy weather but course in good condition and would return
Average to Hard as you need to be farely straight on a number of holes becasue of the OOB's. As it is an open course there is very little protection from the wind and that makes it even toougher as you will play front or back nine into the wind when it blows. Greens had been hollow tined two weeks before the trip but most greens had recovered and were running true ! The greens are tricky to read at times which made it all the more challenging. Practice facilities are good. Pro shop is small and sparse of goods. No half way house so take your provisions with you. No electic trolleys for hire only pulleys and the majoroity of these need replacing. Buggies were made available. Club Bar was good, food good, service very good
