The Prime loop is considered by locals to be the most difficult at Vila Sol, measuring 3,241 metres, where negotiating the tough opening holes requires accurate and powerful driving. The penalties for missing the fairways are severe, so placing the ball strategically from the tee is of paramount importance.

The Challenge loop is generally known as the back nine of Vila Sol's testing championship layout, but as opposed to the exacting tee shots of the Prime, its main defences are the heavily undulating greens. Be sure to keep the ball below the hole, as putting downhill here can be treacherous to say the least.

The Prestige is Vila Sol's shortest nine, at 3,122 metres, but is certainly no pushover; while Steel only worked a mere five bunkers into his design, he skillfully manipulated the indigenous features of the land to create a demanding test. The fairways are narrow on the Prestige, so be sure to keep it straight from the tee.
Vila Sol is also home to a comprehensive golf academy, where the lessons and clinics utilise the latest tuition technology, and can be tailor-made to target specific areas of weakness.
The 6th on the Prime is the resort's signature, an astounding par-5 where you must hit three great shots to weave through the numerous lakes that threaten all around.

Staff were great and couldn't be more helpful, with the exception of one chap in the golf shop who was quite rude when approached for range use 30 mins before it closed on 15/5. Facilities really good. Breakfast options unbelievable. NB - Transfer from airport to hotel wasn't there so had to wait 45 mins for one to be sent. Transfer from hotel to Alto course on 16/5 did not arrive and had been forgotten by company. Thank you to Miguel who contacted ATS and arranged another. Knock on effect was arriving at course at tee time with no time to warm up etc.

The staff are very nice. The rooms are a bit tiered now and need refurbishment. When having a shower, the water flooded the bathroom, then made its way to the front door(not safe) The main let down is the driving range. We were not aloud on at 11am friday ,because it was reserved for members. But we were told that tomorrow you willbe fine! So the next day at 10am we went to go on the range again. "Sorry it closed, reserved for children's lessons" I was not best pleased with this, as we have paid a lot of money to play here and would like to warm up. After abit of back and forth, they said to give them 10 minutes to see what they can do. Eventually ,one of the staff came out and gave us 2 tokens for some balls. The member of staff was quite embarrassed and said right a reveiw as it is not good. But then mentioned that there will be now driving range by the end of the year, as they are building houses on it. Its a shame but I won't be going again.

Unfortunately the rooms were barely big enough to fit two sets of clubs and luggage. The booking said we’d be upgraded ‘subject to availability’ but this did not happen despite the hotel being largely empty. Furthermore, large portions of the hotel were without hot water for 36hrs and we had no towels on two occasions. Would not recommend.

The hotel is remote , but great restaurants are only a cheap uber away . The breakfast has something for everyone . The seperior hotel room was spacious and the bed was very comfy, Fridge and tea/coffee provided and a safe . Plenty space to meet and socialize with your group . The swimming pool and gym were both very good .

The hotel was excellent. Though we weren’t not happy with a standard garden room and upgraded to a deluxe garden room. A little bigger but enough to make a difference. It is a smart hotel with professional attentive staff. The breakfast was excellent with plentiful well made presented choices and sparkling wine either inside or on the beautiful patio. I’m going to bring my friends here.

Great course, excellent location and distance from Vilamoura. Course in excellent conditions, number of tricky holes including a couple of good par 3s. Any shots off line were punished by the tree cover. Only disappointment was lack of food pre round - was told by course that food was available from 7am but no staff there on our arrival and had to way about half an hour on a coffee. Halfway house fairly basic but more than adequate

Waited 5-10 minutes on most tees and more time waiting for greens to clear. Round took just shy of 6 hours as a result. Still very enjoyable. Water was found!

Vila sol is a tight tree lined course with a few water hazards . It is very playable though as you’ll find your ball in the trees easily . Course condition was great and the greens were spot on .

The first round on Saturday was a nightmare. Over 400 golfers on the course. No buggies left and no trollies. The pace of play was desperately slow. Over 6 hours for a round of golf is unacceptable and led to much frustration. The second round of golf on the Sunday was better in terms of pace and buggies were available.
