The course staff were very accommodating, unfortunately the greens were in poor condition compared to North Foreland. We arrived a little early and took advantage of the putting green next to the 1st tee, we asked the pro shop if we could go out a little earlier as there had been nobody on the tee from 12 but was told no as it was members only before 1pm. We teed off on time and was closely followed by the club pro giving a playing lesson who we let play through ( this wasn't a problem ) however following on after that we were approached by a member of the course staff harassing up to play faster as there was a club competition following us playing greensomes and obviously quicker as they were only playing 2 balls and were constantly hitting balls before or as we were taking our 2nd shots, this was unacceptable, on the 16th hole we had a ball land around 3 feet away from one of my playing partners who was extremely unhappy with this a no shout was forthcoming an apology was received. A member of the playing team in the competition then approached my colleague and there was an altercation with was defused after a brief discussion. Unfortunately we won't be returning or recommending this course a very sad end to fantastic weekend.
Walmer and Kingsdown Golf Club is considered to be one of the most enjoyable in Kent. Blessed with a wonderful natural landscape of the Kent coast, panoramic views and tricky sea breezes Walmer & Kingsdown provides a stern test for golfers of all abilities.
Situated above the English Channel upon the White cliffs of Dover this James Braid designed gem is now over 100 years old having originally been opened by Braid and Harry Vardon in 1909.
Measuring over 6,400 yards off the white tees, the challenge of the course is in the elevation changes offered as well as the way in which 5-time Open Champion Braid was able to challenge each player so well off the tee and with testing approaches into well-protected greens. With panoramic views across the white cliffs of Dover and into the Garden of England that is Kent, a round of golf at Walmer and Kingsdown is sure to be a memorable one.
