Dustin Johnson’s new Taylor Made wedges launched to the public

The new Taylor Made Tour Preferred EF wedges – that Dustin Johnson put in his bag just a fortnight before winning the WGC-Cadillac Championship last month – are being released for general sale.

The wedges, also used by Sergio Garcia, have come out of the workshop of renowned clubmaker Clay Long and give more spin than any previous Taylor Made wedge. The firm says the groove geometry on the wedges is “among the most detailed ever created in the golf industry”.

The nickel cobalt face is durable (50 per cent harder than carbon steel), but a thin face insert gives a soft feel at impact.

“The Tour Preferred EF wedge is the perfect blend of craftsmanship and innovation,” said Long, TaylorMade’s Director of Product Creation, Putters and Wedges. “To have our Tour players put them into play immediately after seeing them for the first time is a true testament to their performance.”

The wedge is available in two sole options – the Tour Grind and the ATV Grind. The Tour Grind comes in lofts of 47, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58 and 60 degrees, with bounce options from 9 to 12 degrees and has a refined shape with progressive camber and generous heel relief. The ATV has higher bounce on open face shots but less bounce on full shots and chips, and comes in lofts from 54 to 60 degrees.

Both models retail at £119.
