Just got back from our golf holiday where we stayed at the El Mouradi Hotel near the Port El Kantauoi and wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our time in Tunisia. The hotel is rated as a four star establishment and while I had no complaints about the place, it probably should be rated as a three star hotel. This is only down to the fact that a little bit of refurbishment is in order! The living spaces were very clean with all the services like fresh towels etc that you would expect from such accommodation. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was great with a large selection of local and international cuisine on offer. The hotel employed about seven entertainers who spoke four different languages which kept everyone entertained during the evenings. In hindsight I would have probably chosen the neighbouring Hotel El Mouradi Palace because for a fraction more money it would be the better option. I would also definitely recommend the all inclusive option which unfortunately we didn’t go for! Drinks were a tad on the expensive side but were by no means unreasonable.
We played both golf courses and they were both in good condition even if the greens were a little slower than we had expected. This could have been due to the grainy greens which you don’t see in the UK. Putting into the grain was very slow!
The Panorama course was the first course we played and we found it to an interesting round of golf as the course features plenty of undulations, ravines and water features. It was a course that was far more enjoyable second time around due to the blind tee shots at numerous dog leg holes. It would be good if you could purchase a course planner but I would certainly recommend more than one round here!
The Sea Course was much flatter and a tad easier than the Panorama. Fortunately we were joined here by Sandy the Scotsman who had played the course several times. His advice made our first round here much easier than our first on the Panorama!
Practice facilities were adequate and well priced as was the clubhouse where the staff almost outnumbered the golfers! Having played the courses at nearby Hammett I can say the standard is very similar and both are worth a visit.
Overall I would give the courses a 7 out of 10 and the overall holiday experience an 8. Good value for money!
