Perthshire and the Heartlands in particular are home to some truly special landscapes that many years ago were seen by some of the games leading architects as the perfect blank canvas on which to create their masterpieces. The jewel in the crown of this part of Scotland is undoubtedly the fabulous Gleneagles which, alongside Turnberry, is arguably Scotland’s leading comprehensive deluxe golf and leisure destination.

The PGA Centenary Course will host this week’s Johnnie Walker Classic which will represent the last chance for a number of players to automatically qualify for the Ryder Cup in September.

The Blue Tower Suite is the pinnacle of luxury at Gleneagles and it offers some pretty dramatic views from its private balcony.
The King’s Course is the highest ranked course at Gleneagles according to a whole host of leading golf publications. This is a James Braid classic.
The green complexes are amazing on the Gleneagles Kings Course. Needless to say, accurate iron shots are required unless you have a short game of Seve-like proportions.

Horse lovers will find their own slice of heaven at the Gleneagles Equestrian School. There are few more beautiful places on earth to go for a cross country hack or indeed a jumping session through the Glens.
As you may expect, the lakes and rivers in and around the Gleneagles estate are heaven sent for both trout and salmon fishing.
Dining options at Gleneagles are extensive and of the very highest quality. Andrew Farlie’s restaurant has been awarded two Michelin Stars making it unique throughout Scotland.
