Which golfers made it onto Forbes’ highest paid celebrities of 2015?

On a day where the European Tour announced that the prize money will rise by 18.5% into record levels, Forbes revealed the top 100 celebrities who earned the most pennies throughout 2015.

As it turns out, golfers can earn a healthy wedge in one year.

Three golfers made it into the top 100 celebrities whilst 28 of those were athletes. The ever-popular Phil Mickelson was the top golfer out of the pick earning a eye boggling £32.42 million. Of that figure, £30m came through endorsements whilst the tiny percentage of just over £2m was his winnings. The figure puts Mickelson as the 36th highest paid celebrity this year and 8th amongst athletes.

Despite his disappointing year, Tiger Woods sits one place behind his American compatriot with earnings totalling to £32.11m with just £381,000 coming through tournament winnings.

Rory McIlroy is the second youngest from the top 17 highest paid athletes with an annual salary of £30.83m and he breaks into the top 50 of the highest paid celebrities at 41. He earned £20.34m through endorsements and the remaining £10m were well deserved winnings.

And for those who are interested, the top spot went to boxer Floyd Mayweather with earnings of £190.73m.
