Celtic Manor Course Review

Celtic ManorWell, I’m sitting at my desk at work wishing that I was back at Celtic Manor, or, back in bed sleeping off a tiring couple of days on the resort. As far as a review of the two days, only too happy to give my own personal opinion of the resort and its facilities.

Golf courses: Played the Montgomerie and the Roman Road, both for the first time and they were excellent, the fairways were lush and sprung under foot with virtually every iron shot giving up a sizable divot.

The first cut of rough, only entered into a handful of times thankfully, while also lush was not that penalising always giving the opportunity to get a club on the back of the ball. The real rough, only in once or twice was a ball eater but then only to be expected. The greens were fabulous, difficult to read but in terrific condition and very receptive to a flighted ball when pin seeking. I’m not so sure that these two courses are suitable for a real beginner as they are technically challenging and also physically demanding.

The Clubhouse: What a fantastic venue the Celtic Manor Hotel, my breath was taken away by the splendour a truly 5 star establishment. It might be that I should just get out more but I was blown away by the building. The staff were plentiful helpful courteous and welcoming. The rooms were very comfortable and stylish and the catering was outstanding, there is no question that it was great value for money.

Location: Well, on the hill where it is, absolutely fabulous with stunning views all around from all over the 2 courses and of course from the 8th floor of the hotel where we were accommodated.

Your Golf Travel service: Outstanding in all aspects.
