Crowne Plaza Resort Colchester – Five Lakes: 5 Things you need to know

Five Lakes Feature
2 Fantastic Courses – The Lakes & The Links

The 5 Lakes Resort is home to TWO fantastic courses; the Lakes and the Links, that are both amongst the best in Essex. The resort is a YGT favourite amongst our loyal customers but also are staff who often visit Five Lakes for a weekend golf break away from the city.

What makes Five Lakes a fantastic destination for a weekend break is that you have two golf courses right on the hotel doorstep meaning you get the chance to experience two uniquely different golf courses. The resort’s golf facilities are outstanding, so be sure to make the most out of them during your time at Five Lakes. The facilities include;

The Lakes Course

The Lakes course is viewed as the No.1 course at Five Lakes, and it regularly plays host to a regional PGA European Tour Qualifying Event as well as high profile amateur events. The course was designed by European Tour Legend, Neil Coles who had the vision of a course which was challenging but an enjoyable experience for all golfers of all abilities. And it’s certainly lived up to his vision as with numerous hazards around the course and 10 holes guarded by water, it’s a challenge that will test even the most experienced golfers.

The Links Course

The Links Course is slightly shorter than the lakes course, but it is the perfect complimenting course. It is by no means a less challenging course, as you still need to strategically plot your way around the course dodging the many water hazards and sand traps, but the main feature of The Links Course that stands it apart from the Lakes course is the slick greens which makes putting a real pleasure.

Easily Accessible Location

The 5 Lakes Resort, has a fantastic location being only 8 miles from the center of Colchester and just a few minutes drive away from the A12. If travelling by rail, the nearest station is Witham which is only a 15-minute taxi journey away and perhaps, you may even be flying in, then the closest Airport is London Stansted which is approximately a 45-minute drive away from the resort.

Sirloin Steak at Brasserie 1

Known as one of the best restaurants in Essex, the Brasserie 1 is the perfect place for a warm hearty meal in a relaxed ambiance. An 8 oz Sirloin Steak with Jack Daniel’s sauce served with chips is definitely a popular choice. If you don’t fancy the steak, not to worry, perhaps you might like to try the Salmon and Crab Cake or even the Cajun Chicken Burger.

Dance the night away at Pulse

After you’ve enjoyed a nice dinner at the Brasserie 1 or the Grill Room, why not continue the night and head to Pulse; the in-house nightclub at 5 Lakes. Open on Friday’s and Saturday’s from 10:30pm until late, Pulse is a great place to continue the night in a fun and friendly atmosphere while forgetting your troubles on the golf course.

Fluffy Bathrobes and Stunning Golf Course Views

There are 194 Bedrooms at the 5 Lakes Resort including standard and executive rooms and luxury suites overlooking the stunning lakeside scenery. There are 80 rooms in the Village complex which is just adjacent to the main Hotel, and this seems to be a very popular choice for groups of golfers as the layout allows the group to stay close together.
