Nothing completes a round of golf like enjoying a cool beverage as the sun’s final rays disappear over the horizon. We’ve pulled together some snaps of the most spectacular sunsets in golf.
We’d love to hear about your own favourite spots. Send them to us via Twitter or Instagram using #YGTsunsets.
Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club
One of the most spectacular golf courses in Mauritius, the 18-Hole Championship Le Touessrok Golf Course is across the water from the resort mainland on its own beautiful island.
Rated among Golf World Magazine’s Top 10 Golf Courses in the World, Le Touessrok takes golfers on an exotic tropical trip through lush mangrove forests, past shimmering tidal pools and over rugged volcanic lava outcrops, skirting white sandy beaches on several occasions along the way.
One of Costa del Sol’s most popular courses, Alcaidesa Links overlooks magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea, the Rock of Gibraltar and the North-African mountain range, offering golfers a unique sensory experience.
As the only links course available on the southern coast of Spain, Alcaidesa consists of wide fairways with heather and gorse, rolling hillsides sloping gently to the sea and ending in a stunningly beautiful beach.
Cascata Golf Club
Nevada – USA
Cascata derives its name from the Italian word for “waterfall,” which is appropriate because a 418-foot cascading waterfall is the predominant feature of the course.
A magnificent championship course set among dramatic scenery and a backdrop that includes the 3600-foot peak of Red Mountain; Cascata is a wonderful world of luxuriant fairways, sparkling lakes, and crystal streams.
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club
Voted as one of Gold World’s Top 100 Golf Courses in the World, Dubai Creek is the embodiment of a golfer’s paradise. It makes the most of its idyllic location with an undulating terrain that hugs the Dubai Creek in the heart of the city.
The iconic clubhouse provides a stunning backdrop to a spectacular and refreshingly unique golfing experience.
Foothills Golf Club
Nestled along the edge of the South Mountain, Foothills Golf Club provides a scenic desert golfing experience. An imaginative links layout set on rugged desert terrain, the roughness and rockiness of Foothills is contrasted by lush, rolling fairways and sparkling blue lakes.
A challenging round of golf is perfectly complemented by postcard-quality backdrops provided by the surrounding mountains.
Costa Navarino Golf Resort
The impressive seaside Dunes Course, designed by Bernhard Langer, is Greece’s first signature golf course. Featuring spectacular views of the Ionian Sea, the course incorporates some links-style features, with parts venturing into olive and fruit groves and tall dunes dividing some of the halls adjacent to the golden beach.
Just a stones throw away from Navarino Dunes at the Navarino Bay development lies the Bay course which offers a different, but equally enjoyable, test to the Dunes course.
Hailed by Golf Magazine as the No.1 course in Portugal, Oitavos Dunes is regarded as one of the leading natural links courses in the world. Its sand dunes and oceanic landscape make you feel like you’ve been teleported straight to a course in Scotland.
A four-time host of the Portuguese Open, Oitavos Dunes perfectly utilises the rich tapestries of the area, with wondrous views of the Atlantic Ocean and a stunning backdrop of the Sintra Mountains.
Although Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines may regularly scoop top honours as the best of California’s world-class coastal golf courses, Pelican Hill is right up there with them.
Located on the famous Newport Coast, the North Course is a masterpiece that reflects the classic Scottish links style, meandering along an elevated plateau which offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. The retention of the indigenous landscape makes this as scenic a golf course as they come, and one hell of a place to catch a sunset.
Trump Turnberry Resort
Scene to some of the most memorable moments in Open golf history, The Ailsa is a legend in the world game and a four-time host to The Open Championship. The 9th hole is Turnberry’s trademark, with the iconic lighthouse casting a shadow over the 13th century ruins of Bruce’s Castle.
The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa
Featuring three Scott Miller-designed nine-hole layouts, Kierland Golf Club is served by a common clubhouse complex. The spacious layout features more than 300 bunkers, cool lakes, dry desert washes and stands of desert trees, all set on a spectacular mountain backdrop, punctuated by the beauty of the Arizona desert.
Designed by Pete Dye, Whistling Straits emulates the great old seaside links courses of the British Isles, invoking an image of the game founded more than 400 years ago.
Open, rugged and windswept terrain defines the walking-only, links-style Straits Course sculpted along two miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. A masterpiece in the world of golf, the Straits Course has hosted the PGA Championship three times as well as the Ryder Cup.
