Andy Powell in Golf Buggy drama at the Vale

The ValeWe’ve all been there, stumbling away from the 19th hole after a few too many glasses of beer and suddenly the Ferrari of the golf world is staring back at you, the golf buggy. As alluring as these 10 horsepower chariots are, they rarely get taken out onto the open road to realise their true potential. However on Sunday morning, Welsh rugby star Andy Powell, was charged with drink driving after being found at the services just off junction 33 of the M4 after allegedly taking the buggy from the team hotel, The Vale Golf Resort and Spa.

Following Wales’s superb 31-24 victory over Scotland, Powell and his team mates would’ve had more than just cause for celebration. Although obviously taking a buggy is something that is quite naughty, it’s nice to see a sportsman grabbing the headlines for something other than a cheating on their partner! So although we don’t condone drink driving or even borrowing a golf buggy, we do appreciate Powell for unleashing the golf buggy onto the public highways, the only thing that may have added further spice to this escapade was a police chase – having seen one of these in full flight, there would’ve been no contest.

Anyone wanting to recreate Andy Powell’s efforts should check themselves into the Vale for a golf break starting from just £99 per person, if you need to make it up to your missus as we’re sure Powell will have to, they also offer spa breaks from just £69 per person!

If you’ve got a buggy related incident please let us know – the best story will get a free golf or spa break!

Legend! Great result on the weekend boyos! Think you’ll probably get a drink driving ban for that – although as you don’t need a licence to drive a buggy where does that stand?!
