Measuring over 7,000 from the championship markers, Formby Hall is a considerable test, and is regarded as a welcome addition to the seemingly endless list of excellent courses in the North-West.
Formby Hall has staged PGA Challenge Tour events, and it's now a regular stop on the PGA Europro Tour. The flood lit driving range has recently been re-furbished with now state of the art toptracer equipment in each of the 20 bays.
Formby Hall prides itself in its superb putting surfaces, and the parkland resort style provides good variety alongside the numerous links courses dotted along the coastline. The 18 hole golf course sits in a tranquil setting with wooded areas and water features providing definition and character.

The 16th at Formby is a beautiful Par 3 played over a lake to a well-protected green. With bunkers short left, short right and long there is little alternative but to hit the green.

Formby also contains an excellent par 3 course, which has often been described as the best in the UK. The course captures the true challenge of links golf with strategically placed riveted pot bunkers and large fast undulating greens. While still being a enjoyable challenge, it is great for honing your short game before tackling the main course (par 27)

Formby Hall is a 4-star hotel and golf resort with 76 bedrooms, and it leans more boutique than big-chain. The feel is contemporary and comfortable, with a touch of luxury that works well for golf groups and couples alike.

Accommodation was great, food was good but service in restaurant was terribly slow. Our golf was double booked and created a lot of hassle but thanks to YGT we were compensated by Formby Hall. Neil in the golf shop was very helpful and apologised for the situation.

Food menus far too expensive. Breakfast baps finish at 11.00 - no flexibility. £25.00 meal voucher doesn’t get most main meals !

The rooms and food were good. The restaurant staff exceptional. The staff carrying our golf bags were a life saver as carrying heavy bags from the car park to the buggy station was difficult. The luggage trolley in reception was a necessity as there were no porters.

Generally had a good time, disappointed on arrival that our rooms had not been allocated to us as if we had been forgotten, this was rectified so did not cause an issue in the end but it did worry me that we would not have rooms to stay at one point!

Very good hotel although the staff in the restaurant and bar were not the best. Had to repeat an order for three drinks three times before he got it right. We were told that as residents we got a 20% discount on drinks. Which we were given twice and then told YGT did not subscribe to this offer.

Although we had booked well in advance, there were 16 - 4 balls in front of us with very little time in between. We waited on every hole and felt some sympathy for rocky golfers trying their best but constantly being observed. We were all backed up. The starter was an excellent guy, very helpful and friendly. He had no opportunity to access the course to monitor any slow play.

Both days our tea times had been moved without letting us know so the first day we were told we were going out an hour later than we had booked and the second day we were moved to half an hour earlier! I have never known this before and was told be the starter that it is due to different booking systems between the hotel and the course. Not good enough

Course in excellent general condition and running firm after the long dry spell. Only criticisms are the greens weren't as quick or good as the practice green and the pins were in the same place for all 3 days.

The course was lovely and well maintained. During our golf break we had very wet conditions but the course coped very well Greens were in great condition. We played the par 3 once and the old course 3 times The old course was quite long but was a good challenge. I would definitely play here again
