Founded in 1907, the Alwoodley Golf Club is widely regarded to be the home of one of England’s finest inland courses. The Mackenzie Course was the first to be completed by Dr. Alister Mackenzie, who went on to compile a profile including immense names such as Augusta National.

Mackenzie was in fact a member of the club, and lived and practiced in the local area. Alwoodley reflects the fundamental tenets of course design that founded the architect’s continued projects, with two loops of nine holes to ensure varying wind conditions.
The club spans an area of delightful heathland, whose springy turf is perfect for golf. The club itself is traditional, and has resisted any temptation to alter Mackenzie’s original design.
Open Championship regional qualifiers and countless national amateur events are among the high profile events to have graced Alwoodley, so why not follow in some famous footsteps during your golf tour of Leeds’ outstanding championship gems.
