The links land at Ballybunion is home to two tremendous courses, and the rugged seaside land and undulating fairways are surely among the most iconic images in world golf. Five-time Open Championship winner Tom Watson is perhaps the most famous to endorse Ballybunion's quality: "I am now of the opinion this is one of the best and most beautiful tests of links anywhere in the world."

Old Course
The Old Course, perched in an idyllic position on the Shannon Estuary, is one of the world's best traditional links golf experiences. The course merely reflects the magnificent turf that it has been blessed with; the severe slopes on the fairways and around the greens are beautifully encapsulated by the ancient sand dunes that line them.
At just 6,500 yards, the Old is not long, but there is a genuine premium placed on hitting the ball straight, as the penalties for straying off-line are harsh. This is a course for the golfing connoisseur, and fully justifies its position within the world's best 25 layouts.
Cashen Course
Ballybunion is fortunate to also have Robert Trent Jones Senior's Cashen Course. Opened for play in 1982, it winds through the towering dunes at the mouth of the River Cashen, and also boasts the amazingly natural feel of the Old.
The indigenous land has created what feels like a natural path for each hole, every one of which is distinct. Since its inception in the early 1980s, the Cashen has only served to build upon Ballybunion's deserved reputation as a must play for any golf aficionado.
