Pacific Dunes Course
Pacific Dunes, designed by Tom Doak, is an enticing prospect; in contrast to comparable recent links creations like Kingsbarns, it is not a monstrous championship test aimed at professional golf. Rather, it is part of the fantastic Bandon Dunes Resort, and therefore has to be manageable for the average golfer.
From the tips, Pacific Dunes reaches a modest 6,673 yards, but its rugged landscape makes it truly engaging, not to mention absolutely beautiful. Doak has carved some phenomenal holes through the dunes, traversing the hillocks and humps of the marvellous landscape.
Oregon may not be the most famous of golfing destinations in the United States, but its Pacific Coast is truly spectacular, and the Pacific Dunes course at Bandon Dunes is even more impressive.
Bandon Dunes Course
The Bandon Dunes Course, while not as spectacular as the neighbouring Pacific Dunes, is a real gem. The rugged ocean coastline of south west Oregon obviously inspired the resort's owners to look for British influence, and as such they turned to unheralded Scottish course designer David MacLay Kidd.
Opened for public consumption in 1999, Kidd's creation has proved to be hugely popular, combining the charm of the links land with the relaxation of resort golf. Without doubt a jewel in the crown of Oregon's finest golfing institution, Bandon Dunes is absolutely enchanting.
Bandon Trails
Since opening in 2005, Bandon Trails has quickly become a highly sought after and desirable notch on the golfing bedpost thanks to the phenomenal course created by designers Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.
Colossal sand dunes, undulating meadows and pine forests are among the natural characteristics that have had their hand in dictating this most amazing course.
Old MacDonald Course
Scheduled for launch in June 2010, the Old MacDonald Course is a tribute to Charles Blair MacDonald, dubbed the ‘father of American golf course design', and will complete the remarkable Bandon Dunes golfing experience.
