Bryn Meadows Golf Club

The course is not one to overpower, but is more of a thinking man's challenge, with strategy the key to overcoming the considerable obstacles. Bryn Meadows was established in 1973, and has since come to the fore as one of the best golf courses in southern Wales.

The signature hole is the 213-yard 12th, where players must fly their tee shots over a menacing lake, and is a proposition that will challenge even the low handicappers. Also of note is the monstrous 2nd, which at 561 yards from the tips, is a hole that only the very longest will be able to reach on two blows.

Bryn Meadows is a most enjoyable layout that boasts one of the most picturesque backdrops anyone could hope for.

Muscle up at the monster 561-yard second hole, and have a crack at the green in two.

Accommodation at Bryn Meadows is in a stylish boutique hotel, which has recently been awarded four star status by Visit Wales. The friendly staff will ensure that every visitor's stay is personal, and the fittings and furnishings of every room are of the highest standard.

Added luxury comes as standard, with special features including a range of films that can be viewed on plasma screen televisions that are in both bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as air-conditioning and designer furniture.

It is the care and attention, that comes from being privately owned and managed, that results in the atmosphere at Bryn Meadows, where all visitors can be assured of a most relaxing stay.

The leisure club's facilities include a 30-station gymnasium, 18-metre indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, relaxation area, and the nearly completed aromatherapy suite and hydrospa.

Blas restaurant offers splendid views across the golf course and beyond, and serves an excellent menu, using the best of Welsh ingredients from local suppliers to create modern dishes with a Welsh theme.

Golfer reviews

Hotel - Room was ok , small but everything comfortable, clean and working. We were allocated a room which faced a wall , but when asked they changed it for one with a view.
Food - Dinner and breakfast were excellent.
Service - Like most Welsh hotels the staff are very friendly and say exactly what comes into their head which most of the time is refreshing, (bit like 'Gavin and Stacy').
Reception were good, waitresses were lovely.
Golf - only played once, too cold and too early on Sunday. The course is ok, although it wasn't difficult and the staff in the pro shop were extremely helpful and pleasant.Had a good weekend and Wales won the rugby.Regards,

We all enjoyed our golf trip to Bryn Meadows and not only were we treated to a top class golf course and a splendid hotel, we were also lucky to have good weather for the entire golf break.

The accommodation was good and value for money and the staff were excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and provided everything you would need for a weekend golf holiday. The evening meals were excellent with no restrictions of the menu which one often finds with golf break package deals…an added bonus!

The golf course was a challenge with some very tricky holes but overall was enjoyable to play. Some areas needed a bit of attention but I’m sure most courses are in the same boat at the moment thanks to the hot dry spell we have been through. I fancy taking my husband there one day as he is a better golfer than me and I am sure he would enjoy the golf course. The swimming pool and spa area were brilliant and an excellent way to sooth the aching body after a day’s golf.

I would recommend this venue to other golfers if they fancied a challenging golf course and a great hotel and spa to relax in in the afternoons and evenings. All in all a very successful golf break.

Great location, lovely sandwiches and coffee in comfortable restaurant overlooking valley. The rooms and bed are lovely and the front rooms have outdoor seating overlooking the vista, while the back rooms also have nice views. I did not use the spa but the 17 metre pool with 2 Jacuzzis and loungers were wonderful after a scorching hot day on the golf course!

The course was in good condition considering the weather. It is quite hilly with a wide variety of holes and enough degree of difficulty for the average/good golfer. The staff were very pleasant and obliging and the food very good. Being a difficult eater myself, nothing on the menu really suited me but after asking if they could do anything different I had a wonderful omelette, salad and chips.

I can definitely recommend this for a golf break and I will certainly go again.

Really enjoyed it.

Here is some feedback on our golf weekend at Bryn Meadows Golf and Country Hotel. Excellent and fantastic would be just some words that I would use to describe our golf break. The Hotel provided us with friendly service always with a smile and the food was excellent. The golf course was challenging and put the best golfers to the test, even I enjoyed it and I'm a novice compared to the rest of my party. Furthermore the weather was on our side which helped.

We had a great time and only wished we could have stayed longer.

Many thanks!
