Carlyon Bay Golf Course

The view down the opening hole as it tracks the edge of the cliffs is awe-inspiring, and the proximity of the trouble to the right will strike fear into the hearts of slicers. The front nine follows the coastline, before golfers turn home and tackle the closing stretch, which traverses the parkland further inland.

Resident PGA professional Mark Rowe runs accredited golf clinics at Carlyon Bay's excellent academy, where the tuition is tailor-made according to the specific requirements of every student.

A slice off the first tee will leave your ball in the St. Austell Bay at the foot of the cliffs.

Small touches of luxury are evident throughout the Carlyon Bay Hotel, which is geared towards providing guests with the ultimate in comfortable hospitality. Many of the 86 bedrooms command amazing views across the bay and out to sea, while all are decorated in a traditional high quality fashion, and feature the necessary modern facilities like satellite television.

The dramatic setting that surrounds the Carlyon Bay Hotel may be the highlight of a visit to this Cornish haven, but the hotel itself will leave a lasting impression as a result of the luxurious accommodation and personal service.

Carlyon Bay has no shortage of options for the non-golfers among you, with heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, saunas, a spa pool and a solarium. The more active will appreciate the outdoor tennis courts, adventure playgrounds and the wide expanses of beautiful gardens to explore, while the snooker table is the ideal place to unwind in the evenings. The health and beauty salon offers a range of indulgent specialities including facials, aromatherapy and reflexology that are backed up by the E'Spa product range.

Golfer reviews

We had a most enjoyable golf break at the Carlyon Bay Hotel and have already recommended it to one of our friends. We were given an upgrade and that certainly added to the enjoyment of the holiday!

There was nothing not to enjoy. The bedroom was very clean and smart, the restaurant was comfortable and the waiters/waitresses very helpful and the food was very enjoyable.

We managed to play 4 rounds of golf and loved the (rather challenging) course. The views were breathtaking. The snacks at the Clubhouse suited us very well.

The Spa complex was very clean and fresh, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time there. We visited Llanhydrock House and The Lost Gardens of Helligan which we thought were both very worth while visiting although we had been to visit them before.

All in all we are very satisfied YGT customers.
