Immaculate, tree-lined fairways twist and turn over and around subtle humps and hollows meaning club selection can be tricky. However while good course management is key to a good score the biggest challenge comes from the trees and water that border many of the fairways. Lough Muckno sits ominously close to the edge of no less than 11 of the 18 fabulous holes so accuracy is of paramount importance. Stray too far from the fairway and you may well find yourself in the water, or alternatively deep, choppy rough which makes approach shots into the greens very challenging indeed.
Multiple sets of tees make the course playable for a great variety of golfers and from the back tees the course stretches to a healthy 6,635 yards. Combine this with a par of 72 and the battle against Old Man Par with certainly test every facet of your game.
