Barnham Broom is fortunate to boast two tremendous golf courses, whose contrasting character makes the complex one of the most intriguing in the East of England.
The Valley Course was conceived by Frank Pennink, among the most highly reputed golf architects of his generation, and is characaterised by the abundant water features which make it a striking proposition. Pennink's design is sympathetically entwined with the natural features of the local landscape, and the 6,483 yard stretch, beautiful though it may be, will also test even the best players.
The neighbouring Hill Course was also devised by Pennink, but since its inception has been revised by Donald Steel, whose trademark can be seen stamped on any number of the United Kingdom's best golf courses, and who has been consulted by every course to have held the Open Championship. At 6,495, the Hill will also demand some quality striking, and while it may be more forgiving than the Valley, it is still guarded by Pennink and Steel's treacherous bunkers.
In addition to the splendid golf courses, Barnham Broom is also home to a first class golf school. There are extensive practice facilities, and the scheduled tuition clinics make use of the latest technology, including the GASP video swing analysis system, ideal for both beginners and more established golfers.
