Heythrop Park Course

The task of modelling the new golf course at Heythrop Park fell to Tom Mackenzie of Mackezie & Ebert, who worked alongside English Heritage as the project demanded the replanting of 90% of the original estate parkland. Mackenzie mapped the championship layout around this, and the results are striking.

The 7,088 yard par-72 is classically English in style, with highlights that include the water surrounded green at the short par-4 6th, culminating in the arrow-straight closing hole, just shy of 600 yards and with the imposing mansion house serving as the backdrop.

Golfer reviews

Just a quick note to say we had a marvellous time on our golf break to Heythrop Park. The weather was perfect, particularly the second day which we spent in gorgeous, hot sunshine! The course was beautiful and challenging and we were equally impressed with the surrounding scenery. The food was fantastic!

We stayed at the Crowne Paza hotel which was also very nice. Such lavish accommodation and a sumptuous golf course make Heythrop Park an ideal place to be for a weekend golf trip.

The service in the clubhouse did leave something to be desired as it took quite some time for our food to arrive. However it was worth the wait as, like the food in the hotel’s restaurants, the food was delicious. The bedrooms in the hotel were a bit basic but for the price we couldn’t complain. They served their purpose and we certainly weren’t there to spend time in our rooms anyway!

For our next golf holiday we were leaning towards Puckrup Hall so if you could provide information on golf break packages to that venue I would be most grateful. As always booking with Your Golf Travel was hassle free and ensured amazing value for money. We will be back.

We had a great golf break at Heythrop Park and couldn’t find any fault at all. The golf course was fantastic and was in excellent condition. For the less athletic golfers out there I would recommend hiring a buggy as the course is quite a tough walk.

The clubhouse was small but the atmosphere was great and so were the staff. We really enjoyed the outdoor seating area and were lucky enough to have brilliant sunshine for the whole of our golf trip.

On many golf holidays we have been on in the past the hotels always seem to be the most expensive part. The hotel at Heythrop Park was great value for money as was the golf break package we bought from Your Golf Travel.

The only downside of the entire golf trip was that my golf GPS did not have Heythrop Park! 9 / 10 and we will definitely be back. Thanks Your Golf Travel...everything ran smoothly and the golf break was cheap as chips!

We were not sure what to expect from our golf break at Heythrop Park but we were certainly not disappointed! The golf course has some great holes and is set in huge park with a history dating back to 1703. There is also a very good 4* Crowne Plaza hotel where you get excellent service. The sound of lions roaring around holes 5 – 7. Truly memorable! And at a rate of £109 pp for dinner, B&B, and two rounds of golf, it was very good value.

The first four holes were pretty open and not that interesting but from hole 5 that all changed as we met hole after challenging hole that made us focus totally on our golf. At 6,567 off the white tees, it is a reasonably long course and the long walks between some of the greens and tees added to the overall effect. And with a few steep climbs, it is best suited to the fit! Having said that, it was a pleasure to play it; the greens were in excellent condition, as was the rest of the golf course.

The hotel reception area is a little unusual in its décor, the bedrooms have everything that you would expect, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. We had a few bottles of wonderful Rioja at £23 each – not cheap but it was excellent wine! Again the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff deserves a mention as they were excellent.

While I normally opt for 5* venues, I loved the golf break at Heythrop Park and my overall verdict on this resort is 8/10...I would happily go back. The service from YGT was fast and responsive to my changes, and I very much appreciated the advice that I received. I would not hesitate to recommend Your Golf Travel to anybody thinking of booking a golf break.
