Please allow me to compliment the golf package weekend myself and three friends just had at the Donnington Valley Hotel and Golf club. It is very difficult to perceive how the arrangements and value for money could have been any better. The Golf Club House was excellent as were the staff, the course was first class and very testing. Timing was spot on; we comfortably made our scheduled start of 1100 on both days. The Hotel was outstanding, with the rooms very suitable for our purpose. Dinner and breakfast were of the highest order and the hotel facilities including pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were fabulous. Thanks again.

Donnington Valley Golf Club
The 9th and 18th greens are overlooked by the magnificent Snelsmore House, a Grade II listed Victorian House that doubles as the club house. The 6,353 yard layout follows the natural undulations of the landscape, featuring many intriguing and unusual holes guarded by towering trees and treacherous water hazards.
The front nine is the place to make a score because the most demanding holes are saved for last; the final four holes are heavily influenced by water, and are truly where tournaments and rounds are won or lost.
The proximity of the tremendous clubhouse at the end of each loop makes for a superb amphitheatre to welcome your comrades home during your golf break, corporate or society outing at Donnington Valley.
The highlight of the golf course is the monstrous 15th; nicknamed the ‘Big Dipper', it is well in excess of 600 yards, and requires 3 exceedingly good shots.
As a result of a £14 million investment scheme that has recently been completed, the Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa is one of the premier destinations for golf and leisure breaks within easy reach of the city of London.
The 111 outstanding bedrooms are fitted with the best contemporary furnishings, including lap-top sized safes, fridges, satellite television, Egyptian cotton bed linen and Italian marble bathrooms.
For even more luxury, the hotel's executive rooms are more spacious still, and feature luxury bonuses such as a comfortable seating area and plasma screen TVs, while the range of suites caters for any special occasion.
For business travellers and corporate outings, Donnington Valley has 12 purpose-built conference rooms, equipped to welcome up to 150 delegates. With unrivalled spa and leisure facilities, the superb hotel is perfectly equipped to cater for all requirements, and is ideal for golfers looking to be pampered after a day on the links.
The recently completed Health Club and Spa is an outstanding facility, equipped for the ultimate in health and beauty therapy. The complex includes an 18-metre lap pool, state-of-the-art gym, steam room, sauna, aromatherapy room and a monsoon shower, while the extensive relaxation area includes a sun terrace. The Spa is supported by first class product lines by Clarins, ESPA, Spa Find and Jessica Nails, while speciality treatments include holistic hot stone massage, and the cutting edge Aquasun Mineral treatment.
Donnington Valley shares an owner with the nearby Vineyard at Stockcross, whose restaurant has earned 2 Michelin stars. It should therefore come as no surprise that the food in the Winepress dining room is first-class, while the extensive wine list is remarkably good.
This is a great choice for groups with non-golfers, as the spa and leisure complex is one of the best around.
Nearby Newbury rail station is within an hour of London Paddington terminal.

The hotel at Donnington Valley was great. The rooms were spacious and supremely well equipped. The staff and the food were both of an excellent standard and our wives fell in love with the Spa. Indeed they now look ten years younger...(She’s behind me!)
The course was good as well although the greens had been treated so weren’t at their best. The course is quite tight but not that punishing if you do stray off line. The biggest threat to our scores were the water hazards, which we visited more than once!
Your Golf Travel’s service was exemplary and we even got a text on the morning of our arrival wishing us a good golf break. We will definitely be booking future trips through YGT and have earmarked a golf holiday in Turkey for next summer so get your thinking caps on!
We just got back from our weekend golf break to Donnington Valley and we thought it was one of the best golf trips we have done. We booked the package that included 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast with 3 rounds of golf. We called Donnington Valley to enquire about the price of green fees so we know just how good the value for money on offer at Your Golf Travel is! Outstanding.
The golf course is very interesting and of a good layout. It’s not a “big hitters” course and you need to manage your way round to make a good score. The greens are very difficult to read and provide the biggest challenge to a low score. The course condition is good with the greens in excellent nick; rolling fast and true. I would think that the course is well set up for all abilities but you will enjoy day 2 more as you will understand the layout and several blind shots a bit better.
The clubhouse is fairly basic but serves a nice pint of ale with food at reasonable prices which is a pleasant surprise for a well known golf resort in the South!
The Hotel and Spa were excellent and the quality of the food was superb. The rooms were spacious and staff throughout the resort were very friendly. The Spa was great and we spent more than enough time in there in order to relax after our rounds of golf. We would rate the whole resort with a 9 out of 10 and would certainly return.
I was very impressed with the service from Your Golf Travel and would recommend your company to other golfers who are looking for good value golf holidays at the best venues. I will certainly use you again!Your texts wishing me well at the beginning and end of the golf trip were a nice touch and much appreciated.
We had a great time on our Donnington Valley golf break.
We thought the golf course was great. The yardage was just right...some of the holes were long and testing and others allowed you to be aggressive and go for birdies. The undulations make for an interesting layout and some of the wholes are quite unusual but enjoyable none the less. Straight hitting is important as the huge trees and water hazards are just waiting to ruin your score card.
The clubhouse was really nice and we enjoyed sitting in the sun watching our friends floundering up the 18th!
The hotel was also fantastic. Our bedrooms were very clean and comfortable and the facilities like the spa were first class. We were deliberating over whether we had enough time to visit the spa before dinner and I’m so glad we decided to check it out! Needless to say we were back in there the next day for a more extensive relaxation session! We had dinner in the Winepress Dining Room and the food, which was some of the best we have ever had, was perfectly complimented by the waiting staff who, as with the hotel and golf staff, were professional and friendly.
We are looking forward to booking our next golf holiday with Your Golf Travel and although we loved Donnington Valley we thought it would be fun to try somewhere new. Having said that I’m sure we will be returning at some point in the future.
Well what can I say? We had a fabulous time at Donnington Valley Golf & Spa Hotel and I would recommend this hotel to anyone as you will not be disappointed.
The golf course was amazing...very scenic. The layout was perfect. It was very challenging but just what we were after. The putting greens were like Ice you just had to tap the ball and it went flying. We definitely learnt a lot about technique on this course! The club house was lovely and very relaxed; just what you needed after a round of 18 holes.
The hotel was beautiful. Very clean and the staff were so polite and friendly; they couldn't do enough for you. We had a shoulder, neck and back massage at the spa which was so relaxing we wish we had booked a longer session! This was our first golf break at such an establishment and it will certainly not be the last. The combination of golf and spa was to die for! The pool was perfect as was the steam room and sauna. All in all a great place to head straight after a round of golf.
My overall verdict is 11 out of 10 and I would definitely recommend this hotel. The service we received from Your Golf Travel was excellent. YGT were very helpful and accommodating to any questions we had before we travelled. I would 100% recommend Your Golf Travel to friends and family and I know we will be booking again with them for next year’s golf break.
Overall the holiday was excellent, we found the menu at the restaurant a bit limited but fortunately there was also the option of eating at the bar which was very good. The hotel was very nice and had a lovely pool and jacuzzi. The golf course was excellent, although some of the holes were a bit too challenging for me! We were lucky with the weather and overall we had a great time.
Thanks and will book again soon,
Our golf break was to Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa. To sum it up I would say fantastic value for the money, a very nice hotel with some great food and good selection of wine. The hotel facilities were first class with sparkling clean spa and swimming pool with keep fit area.
We were so lucky to have fine weather for our two days of golf and the welcome was friendly and helpful. The course itself was a good challenge of golf (maybe a little bit hard for the higher handicap players). Our top score was 32 stableford points each day so that's not bad not knowing the course. The most challenging aspect of the course were the greens and playing it over the same weekend as the Ryder cup we reckoned we had harder puts than on the American course.
The price of food and drink at the golf club was very reasonable compared with the higher prices at the hotel. One word of advice the walk from the hotel to the golf club is over half a mile so driving there is the best option with plenty of car parking available.
We would defiantly recommend this venue to other groups and of course the services of Your Golf Travel.
This is about our sixth year using YGT’s services for golf holidays overseas and around the country we hope that next year they will help us again to find that something just a little bit special.
What a pleasant surprise Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa turned out to be, easy to get too and very well presented overall.
The hotel itself was a delight, clean, very friendly and the food and facilities were faultless. The guest rooms were of a very high standard and the public areas were a real pleasure to relax in, and the food was superb.
Add to this a very friendly and professional staff and it can’t get any better, then you discover the golf course and realise it just has.
The course and its staff tick all the right boxes and then you wonder why have I not discovered this before. Good golf, good hotel, good price, brilliant through YGT.
The course was good, though nothing especially noteworthy. Greens were in good condition though. Both the clubhouse and the hotel were very friendly and the whole thing was a great set-up. The food was especially good.
It was easy to find, and within an hour of London. Great value for money, and we would definitely recommend to friends, though as a golfing experience it didn't quite compare to Old Thorns this time last year.
Many thanks to Your Golf Travels help - very efficient as ever. Look forward to my next booking!
