Situated on the tip of the beautiful Chanonry Peninsula, Fortrose and Rosemarkie is typical of the sort of old-fashioned tricky links courses littered along Scotland's irregular coastline. The land dictates the style and character of the golf course, in the same mould as other gems like Kilspindie and Cruden Bay.

The lack of space means that the golf course is not long, but also means that wayward striking will prove disastrous. This natural understanding and appreciation of golfing turf is typical of designer James Braid, and the surrounding environment makes this an absolutely spectacular golfing experience.
Water laps around three sides of the golf course, and with the iconic lighthouse dominating the landscape at the head of the peninsula, it seems a surprise that this gem has flown under the radar for so long.
