Hmm, something went wrong... would you mind trying again?

Built in 1766, the chateau was General Berthier's residence when Napoleon laid siege to Boulogne. The outstanding example of 18th century architecture sits amid 12 acres of stunning countryside, and now offers excellent hospitality to visitors, whether golfers or not.

The 27 bedrooms retain the charm and character of the chateau's early days, but have now been modernized with the requisite amenities to ensure the convenience. For something intimate and intriguing, the Hotel Cléry is a fascinating choice for an escape to the popular coastline South of Calais.

The hotel has the added bonus of a well-equipped health club, which includes a fitness suite and a sauna.

La Matelote is one of Boulogne's top dining rooms, a Michelin-starred restaurant specialising in innovative seafood dishes.

Golfer reviews

We arrived at The Hotel Clery after a 30 minute drive from the Eurotunnel and were delighted with our first impressions of this refurbished chateau that epitomised our mental picture of a rural French country house. The restaurant, bar and lounge were welcoming and comfortable and the reception staff that checked us in were friendly and competent.

The bedrooms allocated to our party were located in the main house and various lodges and converted stables close to the main building. All were extremely well appointed, spacious and comfortable. The food served in the restaurant was excellent as was the service provided. As you know we were concerned when the hotel asked us to choose in advance the menus we required, but they helped us deal with that and it all worked out very well.

The food provided to us was of a high standard and the wine list catered for all tastes and budgets...unusual for a hotel associated with golf! The hotel and the services provided are highly recommended by all of our party.

The arrangements at the golf courses worked out very well and everything ran like clockwork. I think earlier tee times would be advantageous for future reference though. The condition of the golf courses was very good for the time of the year, when maintenance work has started and we were made to feel welcome at all three courses.

All of our party really enjoyed the golf holiday and the travelling arrangements which you made on our behalf were top class. I would not be at all surprised if the hotel became a regular for a number of our party. We thought the Eurotunnel made the whole golf break easier and more enjoyable as well.
