HOTEL DU GOLF DE SAINT-LAURENT

Location: Ploemel, 6 miles West of Auray, 22 miles SE of Lorient

Golf de Saint-Laurent is undoubtedly one of the finest courses in the region, having hosted the French Professional Championships and the National Open on a number of separate occasions.

The course is a varied test, with some extremely challenging holes featuring narrow fairways and difficult bunkering. A sound strategy is essential to scoring well, as Saint-Laurent will present birdie opportunities, but there are a number of holes are severely punishing should you bite off too much.

There is a sufficient challenge for the low handicappers, but Saint-Laurent is not too demanding for the average player, who will certainly enjoy this Brittany destination.

The excellent 3* Hotel du Golf de Saint-Laurent is an extremely popular golf holiday destination thanks to its excellent facilities and the proximity of the golf course at Saint-Laurent.

Every one of the 42 bedrooms is spacious, and benefits from a private balcony terrace overlooking the golf course. The all round experience is embellished by the consistently attentive and well-mannered service that all guests receive, making this the prefect choice for a convenient golf escape to Brittany.

Hotel guests are welcome to take advantage of the outdoor swimming pool, in addition to the sauna, solarium and hot tub.

Just a few miles to the West lies Auray, a beautiful and historic town, perched on the banks of the River D'Auray. The harbour is the focal point of Auray, which was where Benjamin Franklin disembarked during the American Revolutionary War on route to Paris. Also worth a visit is the town of Lorient; heavily affected by World War II, almost 90% of Lorient was flattened by Allied bombing, and the most notable legacy of wartime is ex-German submarine base of Keroman, which is now a museum open year round to visitors.

The hotel's recently renovated restaurant overlooks the pool area, and serves a superb menu, full of traditional French regional dishes.
