We just got back from our golf holiday in Northern France and we thought the ease and convenience of the Eurotunnel really adds value to this golf break package.
The first course we played was at Wimereux Golf Club. This is a lovely little links course that is cleverly designed to put the wind to use. There was a stretch of four back to back holes that played directly into the wind...a test for any golfer! The views from the course back across the Channel towards the White cliffs of Dover were spectacular.
We played our second round at Aa Saint Omer Golf Club, which is a championship course that is laid out over some very hilly terrain. The course was in fantastic condition and it was easy to see why so many professional; events have been hosted here.
Course number three was Le Mer at Le Touquet Golf Club. This was an outstanding course that seemed to make good use of the natural lay of the land rather than being artificially sculpted. There were numerous holes where you can really open up your shoulders and have a lash and others where accuracy is paramount. The fairways and greens were in great condition as well.
A golfer couldn’t really ask for much more on a golf holiday in France.
We stayed in the Hotel du Golf Aa Saint Omer and thought it was very nice and perfect for what we were looking for. The staff in the hotel were very personable and made our stay very enjoyable and relaxing. The town of Saint Omer was very quaint and there are plenty of restaurants and bars to keep you entertained in the evenings. Wimereux and Le Touquet were about a 45 minute drive away and Aa Saint Omer GC was obviously right on our doorstep.
The service provided by Your Golf Travel has been excellent once again. Quick turnaround on quotes and bookings, and the weekend schedule for travel and courses was well planned.
Saint Omer was only 30 minutes from Calais. Combine this with the quality of golf on offer and you get the perfect place for a Eurotunnel golf break.
We will be back for next year’s golf trip...thinking of a golf tour of Ireland if you have any ideas?!
