Innisbrook is among Florida's most celebrated golfing destinations, appealing to many as a result of the impeccable service and conditioning usually the reserve of prestigious private country clubs. With four championship courses, including one of America's finest, it is clear why Innisbrook is so highly regarded.
Copperhead Course
The legendary Copperhead Course is the annual host of the PODS Championship on the PGA Tour, and is ranked in America's top 100. The outstanding variety inherent to the layout makes it a fascinating test, and if you are brave enough to stride back to the tournament tees, you will be confronted by a par 71 layout measuring a staggering 7,340 yards. Designer Lawrence Packard has combined drastic elevation changes with tight fairways and tricky dog-legs to create one of Florida's finest golf courses.
Island Course
While the Copperhead tends to hog the limelight, the Island Course has been ranked inside Florida's top 15, and is widely regarded to be equally as challenging. Frequently used for regional US Open qualifiers and NCAA events, the Island has a number of huge changes in elevation, and demands pinpoint accuracy from the tee to find the tree-lined fairways. Distance is not crucial, but fascinating holes like the 18th combine testing angles with strategic water to create formidable challenges.
Highlands North Course
Also designed by Lawrence Packard, the Highlands North Course is renowned for its long par 4s, and particularly for its intimidating set of short holes. Less emphasis is placed on length, but the fairways are tight, and some 15 holes are sculpted around treacherous water hazards. The signature hole is the third, a long par 4 which demands an outstanding approach shot to its partial island green.
Highlands South Course
The Highlands South is just shy of 6,800 yards from the tournament tips, and features the longest par 5 in the state of Florida. There is excellent variation throughout the layout, with fascinating short holes and some inventive par 4s, all shot through with treacherous water hazards. The 13th is undoubtedly the signature hole, stretching to 630 yards from the tips, and is certainly not for the faint hearted.
