It was interesting starting with a par 3 but the view from the first green was extraordinary. I loved the up and down nature of this course with its mixture of mature wooded holes and exposed hilltop fairways. I have nightmares about the pot bunker protecting the 15th green but fortunately I managed to avoid it. I was pleased I had a course map on the dogleg fourth and more pleased to walk away from the Welsh/ English hole with a birdie. The absolute highlight of the round had to be the unbelievable panoramic view from the 12th tee. With no-one coming up behind us we just stood drinking in the view for some minutes, watching rain clouds scudding across the distant hills and, incongruously, a flight of jet fighters streaming across the plain.

Since its foundation in 1933, the club has developed
greatly, and was in fact the location where European Tour legend and Ryder Cup
captain Ian Woosnam cut his teeth.
Woodland and the natural undulations provide all the fascination that is required from a
round of golf, and the outstanding views are equalled by the superb quality of
this multinational golf club.
