Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club sits in the Ronda Hills above Marbella, and if you're after a course that makes you think rather than just swing hard, this is a proper Costa del Sol favourite. Positioned handily between Málaga and Gibraltar, it was the first layout designed by legendary Spanish golfer Severiano Seve Ballesteros when he moved into architecture in 1991, and you can tell he built it with a player's brain.
At just over 6,200 yards, you won't beat Los Arqueros by simply hitting driver everywhere. Seve's design rewards strategy, sensible target selection and leaving yourself the right angle in. The greens are on the small side and not heavily bunkered, but they've got enough slope and tiering to turn a slightly-off approach into a nervy two-putt. If you're above the hole in the wrong section, you'll know about it.
The fairways roll through pine and cork oak and there's enough elevation change to make club choice interesting, especially if the wind is up. It's also a course where positioning matters, because the best line in often isn't the obvious one from the tee. And yes, you do get some cracking views across the valley towards the Med, which never hurts on a golf break.
Who is this for?
Golfers after a strategic, mid-length parkland test near Marbella with standout scenery and a Seve design on the scorecard.
Who is it best for?
Mid to low handicappers who enjoy plotting their way round, plus groups who want a quality Costa del Sol round that isn't just a driver-fest.

The tourist friendly, challenging and stunning course commands an enviable mountain setting and magnificent views over Andalusian hills and the Mediterranean. Located in Benahavís, only 5 km. from San Pedro de Alcántara and near beautiful Ronda, on the Ronda road.
Signature Hole: Hole 13, Par 5, 458 metres (501 yards), SI 6
Los Arqueros’ 13th deserves its status as signature hole not just for the challenge that it presents, but also for its magnificent scenery of ‘Mare Nostrum’. On clear days, it is even possible to see the coast of Africa and the Atlas Mountain Range. The golf is nothing short of spectacular either, and from an elevated tee the fairway starts off narrow, before it veers off to the right.
It is possible to attempt a ‘Seve’ in cutting the corner and going for the green in two. However, this is a dangerous approach and anything to the right of the green will result in a lost ball, while anything short will be swallowed up by the greenside bunker. A fade would suit this approach well, as the left side of the green is guarded by an uphill slope. A stunning golf hole, offering much in the way of risk-reward.

Really slow round. The least enjoyed course by all but one playing member. There’s a stretch of holes which are almost unplayable with tiny fairways and lost ball anything off them. The views are spectacular however but anyone not low single digits will likely not have a fun day here. The course allowed a 4ball to have their first ever time on a golf course (didn’t see anyone in the group hit it more than 50yards) to go out early in front of a society booking, took over 5 hours to get round. Shame

Loved this course. Will return for this one. Amazing layout, amazing fairways. Bunker sand was just right. Greens were true, but a bit bumpy. They held well on approach shots.

Great course to play and in great condition.
Quite difficult for us high handicappers but still very playable. Some lovely views all around the course. Would definitely play again. Not much practice facilities though but that didn’t take nothing away from our day.

Not as tricky as La Zagaleta...greens were a bit patchy in places but overall an enjoyable experience. Nice golf course.Have played it a few times over the years.
