The golf club at Monmouthshire was founded in 1892 across land that was originally used for horse racing – the National Hunt Chase of 1872 was held at Abergavenny. Today, the landscape is covered in mature woodland, and is overlooked by the region’s surrounding mountains.

Though it began its journey in 1892, Monmouthshire’s golf course reflects the layout devised by the great James Braid in 1938. The great Scot formulated a course that has now matured in delightful fashion, making Monmouthshire one of the best options in the Wales’ south west, especially as part of a golf tour around Newport.
