We had a great time on our golf holiday, Penha Longa was far and away the best course we thought. We also really liked Estoril, even though it was quite short - it is a really good course for 18-24 handicappers. Oitavos was nice, but harder because more exposed to wind and a bit longer. Enjoyable though. Thanks for your help,

Sites for golf courses come no better than this, where American golf architect Arthur Hills has created a masterpiece. Hills, who for many decades has been highly regarded for his projects in the United States, was extremely conscious of respecting the natural landscape and the species that it supports, and as such Oitavos has received many awards for its environmental awareness.
There are always views of the rugged Atlantic coastline from the course, which is formulated in the style of a traditional Scottish links course, with nine holes out and nine holes back home. Though not strictly a links course - the fairways are often bordered by woodland - Oitavos does have the sandy turf that makes seaside golf so special.
This new addition to Portugal's golfing landscape is more than welcome, and delights every player fortunate enough to include it in their golfing holiday.

Oviatos’ 14th hole rates as one the best par 3s in the world and deservedly takes the title of signature hole. When the wind is up, this hole turns into a real test and can often play much longer than its stated length of 167 yards suggests, making for a tough club selection. From the tee you will be playing over a storm gorge which then hugs the right hand side of the hole. This par 3 is a fantastic showcase of golf in Lisbon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Portugal golf holiday and thought The Oitavos Hotel was outstanding. The hotel was obviously brand new and still bedding down but it was run to a very high standard and the food, service and bedrooms were all great. It was very peaceful during the week and then livened up over the weekend.
We played the golf course twice; the first time it was blowing a gale and the second time around we were relieved to play in just a strong breeze! The golf course is beautiful and brings together the best elements of parkland and links style golf and is a real test of every aspect of the player’s game. In my opinion it was the best golf course I have played in Portugal which in my mind is high praise as courses like San Lorenzo and the Royal Course at Vale do Lobo are world class. The views of the Atlantic coast are awesome and it is certainly a real golfer’s course rather than a resort course.
It’s only about a 10 minute drive into Cascais so cab fares are never too high. Overall the entire golf break was brilliant and I look forward to playing this majestic golf course again the future.
