We were a party of 4 golfers consisting of myself and my 17 year old son and 2 of his mates of the same age. We paid a paltry £59 each for the golf break which represented really goodvalue for money. Two rounds of golf with bed and breakfast included for that money was great!
The course was in good condition and the greens were above average. We played it off the whites (recommended) as we are all pretty long off the tee. There are some challenging par 3s and from the back tees the course measures 7000 yards...plenty long to test even the biggest hitters. It is a pretty open course and you can give it a good heave off most of the tees with the big dog, which is always fun! The rough is not too severe, and off the yellows it would be a fair test for all abilities.
The clubhouse and bar were welcoming and it has the typical atmosphere of an ex country house, very charming and on the quiet side. The staff seemed friendly enough and the rooms we had were large with big beds and all the usual equipment. The Spa facilities are very good with a sauna/steam room, nice pool and a gymnasium. We all took full advantage of this facility with my nickname of tomato head resulting from a prolonged session in the sauna!
Food and drink was very nice and the prices were fair. My overall rating for Owston Hall is 7.5 /10, which is quite good as I am a bit picky with where I play and stay! Good value for money and a nicevenue.
