Close to the historic wartime town of Ypres, Palingbeek has an elegant clubhouse and terrace that overlook a mature, well laid out championship course.
Palingbeek’s designer, Harold J. Baker, had a firm belief that a golf course should be designed sympathetically with its surroundings, reflecting the natural lay of the land, and this is exactly what he has achieved at Palingbeek making it not only an enjoyable test of golf but an extremely aesthetically pleasing one at that.
Palingbeek, a parkland course of great natural beauty, offers a wide range of challenges to golfers of varying abilities. From the back tees the course measures up to 6,782 yards with a par of 72 which should be enough to challenge even the longest hitters, especially when you take the need for precision into account. Tree lined fairways, natural water hazards and well placed bunkers demand good course management and perhaps the best feature of this course is that good shots are rewarded by the course while the occasional stray shot is not overly punished.
The Club also boasts ample practice facilities including pitching and putting areas as well as a floodlit driving range and a four hole short course; perfect for beginners and more experienced players who simply want to loosen up before tackling the main attraction.
