The highly acclaimed golf course at the Poggio Dei Medici resort played host to the Italian Open, on the Ladies European Tour, from 1999 to 2003. The rolling hills of the Mugello region were manipulated skillfully by Alvise Rossi Fioravanti and golf professional Baldovino Dassù to create a fascinating and varied challenge.
The classically Tuscan lines of poplar trees border the estate, while the raised points of the undulating course afford magnificent views over the valley toward the town of Scarperia.
The course itself is a demanding par-72 layout, which reaches 7,036 yards from the championship markers, but there are tees to suit golfers of all abilities. Poggio Dei Medici is built in accordance with USGA construction standards, and as a result the course is always maintained in impeccable condition.

The accommodation at the Poggio Dei Medici resort is typically Tuscan, based around the 16th century Villa di Cignano, where the low rise blocks are capped with terracotta tiles. The 70 hotel rooms are divided between 5 separate courts, or blocks, giving the resort an intimate and private ambience.
Looking out across the golf course, guests will be met with views through the valley and towards the foothills of the Appenines, while inside the rooms there is a fantastic marriage of traditional character and contemporary convenience.
All rooms are decorated in the customary style of Tuscany, and are equipped with satellite television, telephone, safe deposit box, mini-bar, air-conditioning and a luxurious bathroom, complete with hairdryer and bathrobes.

In 2004, the brand new club house overlooking Lake Cignano was opened, and its facilities are available to hotel guests. These include outdoor swimming pools, jacuzzis, a steam room, fitness centre and purpose built massage treatment rooms.Within the resort there are three separate restaurants, serving a fantastic range of local classics and international dishes.
Caninetta Antinore, near Santa Maria Novella, is among Florence's best dining rooms, where the refined menu is complemented by a superb wine list.
