Located adjacent to the luxurious Westin Resort, Port Royal Golf Club and its splendid trio of golf courses are icons of golf on Hilton Head Island, approaching fifty years of golfing tradition. Port Royal is ideal holiday golf, with relatively flat terrain and three courses that offer the travelling golfer great variety and ultimately an endlessly enjoyable golfing experience for golfers of all abilities.

Robber's Row
Robber’s Row 1967 saw the realisation of the design by George Cobb and Willard Byrd, and thus Robber’s Row was born. The course occupies historic Civil War land and there are landmarks and points of interest dotted around the estate. In 1994, the Robbers Row layout was reworked by the great Pete Dye whose other projects include Lykia Links in Turkey, Crooked Stick in the USA and the stunning Teeth of the Dog Course in the Dominican Republic. Dye’s changes have updated the layout and certainly refined its challenge.
Planter’s Row
Planter’s Row joined the party in 1984 becoming the newest course at this fantastic golf resort. The quality of the Willard C. Byrd design was instantly recognised and before long the course hosted a Senior’s PGA Tour event. Planter’s Row is a thinking man’s golf course and thanks to narrow, tree-lined fairways, small, undulating greens and the presence of water on no less than 10 holes, the course demands accuracy and sound course management. Although Planter’s Row is a tricky course to navigate it only measures 6,543 from the tips which is hardly long by modern standards. Much like Robber’s Row this course should provide an interesting and enjoyable test for all those who are lucky enough to play it.
Barony
Built in the early 1960s, the Barony Course was one of the first to be built on the island. From the tee the Barony Course is fairly generous so those who like to grip it and rip it with the driver will have fun here but it is when you approach the Bermuda grass greens that the real challenge of this course comes to the fore. The greens are large and undulating meaning three putting is a distinct possibility and to add to the challenge they are well protected by thick, punishing rough and unforgiving bunkers. Although this course is fun to play from the tee a good score will more likely come from solid iron shots and a silky touch around the greens. Port Royal reflects perfectly the charm of playing holiday golf on Hilton Head Island, as you wind through the magnolia and oak trees amid stunning natural surroundings.
