Designed by James Braid in 1903, Powfoot is located in the Scottish Lowlands near the Solway Firth, facing facing the Cumbrian Lake District. The front nine is a challenging links, while the home holes are more parkland in style, but retain the threat of gorse and whins bordering close to the fairways and greens. Powfoot is an enjoyable challenge for all, and visitors will be warmly welcomed.

0800 043 6644The course measures 6,255 yards from the back tees, so is not designed to be a championship course, however with five holes measuring over 400 yards and only one par 5 Powfoot is sure to provide golfers of all levels with a test.
There are some capital holes, especially the long par four 3rd, aptly named 'Shore' as it unsurprisingly hugs the shoreline. The 9th is also a challenging par four which requires a long carry from the tee and your approach shot must then clear a bomb crater which is situated some 100 yards from the tough, undulating putting surface.
Powfoot Golf Club is one of Scotland's real gems, and if you are planning a trip to this part of the country then be sure to have it on your itinerary.

We had good weather for this round and enjoyed the course very much. A good mix of challenging holes. Friendly atmosphere in the Pro Shop and bar.

Powfoot was lovely, we had wind again though not as much as at Southerness. Mainly Links with some Parkland features , it was again in great condition with helpful friendly staff.

This course was beautiful and in very good condition but on the day it was very difficult because it was very windy but we enjoyed it very much

One word, fantastic, what a gem this place is. The course was in brilliant condition and the greens are something else. The guy in the pro shop so so helpful as we're the other members we met. I'd rate this one of the best courses I've played and that includes Spain and the USA, well done Powfoot for a fantastic day.

Good condition and friendly local members. Professional at the course was not as helpful as he could have been. We waited 15/20 minutes at the 1st tee waiting for our tee time, with no one playing or looking to play, as the Professional insisted that we waited for our exact tee time.

We played in benign conditions. A links course, well kept, fairways quite narrow edged by heather & gorse. Would be tough on a windy day. Staff very helpful & provided food after the round even though there were very few people at the course.

Very punishing if you don’t find the fairway, 40 mph wind when we played and as the course is very exposed it made it very hard.

Great course in a lovely location but the wind was blowing so it was quite tough to keep the ball on the fairways after which the rough could be pretty penal. Had lunch in the clubhouse which was lovely. Overall a very good but pretty tough course.
