The Rungsted Golf Club was formed in 1936 as a splinter from the already established Copenhagen Golf Club, and in the time since it has established a considerable reputation. Major Charles A. Mackenzie, brother of Dr. Alister, the man responsible for Augusta National among others, was charged with the task of creating the Rungsted course.
The Major's blank canvas was the delightful parkland to the north of Copenhagen on an area bisected by a railway. The unorthodox course features an inward half with a par of 38, demanding a consistently high quality of ball striking. Against the backdrop of the Oresund Straits, Rungsted features beautiful banks of woodland and a number of streams and burns.
While Rungsted remains a traditional members club, it has hosted many tournaments, carrying considerable prestige, and is also extremely welcoming for golfing visitors to Denmark.
