SIAM COUNTRY CLUB

Siam Country Club near Pattaya is one of Thailand's best known golf facilities, being home to the first privately-owned golf club in the country and enjoying a comprehensive level of facilities. A large recent investment in expansion and improvements means it and now boasts the championship-standard 18-hole Old Course and a world class 27-hole layout, the Plantation Course.

The Old Course

This is a beautiful layout with no real estate in sight and a pleasant mix of rural areas and woodland. The layout features striking bunkers bordering the fairways and greens. These putting surfaces are, as is the modern trend, shaped like upturned saucers with sloping run-off areas, putting a heavy emphasis on accurate approach shots as well as your chipping and putting touch.

Each nine-hole loop descends downhill from the stylish clubhouse. The course's only water hazard - a wide creek that runs right through the course, comes into play at the 2^nd, 8^th, 15th, 16th and 17^th holes, providing some world-class finishing holes that can make or break the round.  High handicap players might struggle on a course that has staged the LPGA Honda Championship but experienced players will love the challenge

The Plantation Course

This is a relatively new 27-hole course with its own immaculate clubhouse and situated overlooking Pattaya Bay. The three new 9-hole plantation courses (A, B & C), fittingly named Sugar Cane, Tapioca, and Pineapple, are designed by Arizona based outfit and it shows with some nice touches including the highest quality Bermuda grass greens and triple greens, where 3 holes conclude on the same huge putting surface.

The holes wend their way through hills and valleys and offers some brilliant challenges. This has become a very popular golf course, even with the pros. The US LPGA played their opening event in 2009, won by world number one Lorena Ochoa, over this layout and the golf course and service on offer received rave reviews. The playability is also great for all players as there are multiple tee boxes.

The unique architectural "Bird Wings" clubhouse sits on the top of the hill, with views of the golf course and its surrounding undulating land. From the front balcony you can view the only "Triple Green" in Asia and inside are large and well decorate spaces, a locker room, restaurant and pro-shop together with first class services from the well trained staff. There's also a driving range, pro shop  and a putting green and chipping green, which are only a stone's throw away.
