Located in the beautiful English Riveria, the course’s coastline location presents fantastic views of Lyme Bay to the East and the rugged tors of Dartmoor to the West. Torquay Golf Club is known as the first place that Nick Faldo won as a professional golfer, there were certainly many more after this one.
Founded in 1909 the course has a rich history and has developed into a fantastic parkland layout, with each hole providing its own unique challenge. The course is situated on the outskirts of the seaside town of Torquay, which is very traditional town, with a range of quaint shops, cafes and restaurants.

The sea breeze blows over the rugged coastline, providing challenging conditions for golfers. Despite this coastline location, the course is parkland in style, with tight tree lined fairways and well placed bunkering throughout. There are both a short game practise area and putting green, as well as a fully stocked pro shop on site.
The original clubhouse was built in 1911 and was celebrated by an exhibition match involving the famed Harry Vardon and J.H Taylor. Who throughout their illustrious golfing careers amassed over 50 professional victories between them, with the winner of the exhibition receiving 10 guineas (£1.05 equivalent). The third member of The Great Triumvirate, James Braid, was commissioned to make alterations after the First World War once the New Zealand Forces who were using the course as a dispersal depot had returned to their homeland.
Nice parkland course very close to centre of Torquay. A few holes close to each other where you have to give way to other holes.
Beautiful views, some very tricky holes but overall above average difficulty.
