The United States Open Championship takes in some of the country's finest courses, and is, as its name suggests, 'open' to anyone capable of qualifying. This gives it a mystique similar to Britain's Open, where dreams and legends can be made by the most unlikely players.
The Open is the jewel in the crown of the United States Golf Association's events, and is the second oldest event in the American golfing calendar. In 2009, the U.S. Open will see defending champion Tiger Woods lead the field to Bethpage State Park to do battle on the world-renowned Black course. (more)
