Golf courses

Prime Course

The Prime loop is considered by locals to be the most difficult at Vila Sol, measuring 3,544 yards, where negotiating the tough opening holes requires accurate and powerful driving. The penalties for missing the fairways are severe, so placing the ball strategically from the tee is of paramount importance.

Challenge Course

The Challenge loop - 3,383 yards - is generally known as the back nine of Vila Sol's testing championship layout, but as opposed to the exacting tee shots of the Prime, its main defences are the heavily undulating greens. Be sure to keep the ball below the hole, as putting downhill here can be treacherous to say the least.

Prestige Course

The Prestige is Vila Sol's shortest nine, at 3,367 yards, but is certainly no pushover; while Steel only worked a mere five bunkers into his design, he skillfully manipulated the indigenous features of the land to create a demanding test. The fairways are narrow on the Prestige, so be sure to keep it straight from the tee.

Vila Sol is also home to a comprehensive golf academy, where the lessons and clinics utilise the latest tuition technology, and can be tailor-made to target specific areas of weakness.

The 6th on the Prime is the resort's signature, an astounding par-5 where you must hit three great shots to weave through the numerous lakes that threaten all around.

Hotel Information

Pestana Vila Sol Golf & Resort, is just 50 metres from the golf course, and is a modern European style hotel that has a total of 189 bedrooms and suites. With superb views over the lakes, gardens or golf course, the spacious rooms are equipped with all the modern amenities and features that are required of a good 5* destination. The hotel is constructed around a central core of public and meeting areas, creating an extremely sociable atmosphere that helps to make the Vila Sol hotel such a great holiday venue.

Great trip and some ridiculous photos to follow. Clarky did OK considering his golfing experience and I definitely had room for improvement… We didn’t wake up for Millenium at 8.26 tee off on Friday (and had some close calls with other days!!!) so ended up paying extra for 18 at Vila Sol having sweet talked the girl (see in the Irish bar the night before) down to a reasonable green fee.

YGT did us proud and I may have a new customer for you as well. Feeling very tired and think next year early Tee times will not be on the agenda!!! When is the best time to book for next year to get the Tee times we want?

Just wanted to say thanks for the time you took with us and for booking the weekend away, all 8 of us had a brilliant time, the courses and the hotel were excellent and we drank all the super bock! It's looking likely that we will be doing it again next year and wondered if you could quote us again. We have no intention of getting quotes elsewhere due to you being so on the ball with this trip. Booking early will get us better tee times?! Getting up early ain't easy especially when you get a taxi to Albufeira and not get back in till 3.30am!!

The Vila Sol hotel was very good and their staff were first class, especially Edgar who looked after all our transport to the courses and from our apartment to Villamoura town on a night. The apartments were excellent with every possible piece of apparatus to aid our comfort within.

Vila Sol 1-18 was very good and next time we visit we would like to play the 1-18 straight, we played 19-27 & 1-9 then 9-18 & 19-27 again. Pinhal, everyone enjoyed the course layout Laguna, another nice course where a number of balls were lost in the many lakes and good scores broken by the many bunkers, but again we all enjoyed it. I just wanted to thank you for putting together such a great package at short notice for myself and two friends. It was during after-golf beers on Thursday that it was suggested that a short golf break in Portugal would be a good idea and by Friday morning you had a holiday set up for us. Three people is not an easy number to accommodate however the apartments at Villa Sol were fantastic. They were too far away from the main hotel to walk but the hotel was very good at getting us transport to and from. A fantastic three days. We are already thinking about next year but will definitely not leave it to the last minute next time.

Thanks for all your help in organising the mega golf trip. It went down really well, golf was awesome, venue first class and I really appreciate all your efforts, help and advice.

What a fab time us girls had in Vila Sol, great recommendation which, as trip organiser, I am especially thankful for!
The Vila Sol complex was stunning although we really wish we had discovered the spa earlier in the trip. The onsite and golf course shuttle bus service was excellent and taxis into Villamoura were pretty cheap and easy to find. I can’t fault the golf courses which were immaculate and were wonderfully staffed. Even the weather was great but I’m not giving you credit for that!

Just thought I would drop you a line to say how the golf trip went. The weather on th first and second day was a bit dull but stayed dry but third day was dry and warm. The hotel, breakfast and room could not be faulted as we had no problems at all and enjoyed the room as it was a 2 bedroom with a small living room which was perfect. All the group said how much they enjoyed the course even though it had tight fairways and you needed to be quite accurate with your shots but the challenge of playing them outwayed the difficultly even for our 27 handicappers.
