Though not long by modern standards, the course has some teeth, courtesy of the two large lakes that come into play on numerous occasions. The monstrous 7th, at 521 yards from the championship markers, has the power to make or break your score on the outward half.
The well-stocked golf shop is home to the Windmill Village PGA professional, who is on hand to help with any golfing queries. A golf break at Windmill Village is perfect for sociable golf, and is accommodating for all kinds of players.
The most memorable holes at Windmill Village are the 10th and 11th, where the large lake, home to a sizable coy carp, skirt the fairways.
The family managed Windmill Village has all the comfort of a modern hotel, while retaining the charm of a traditional private establishment. The hotel is fortunate to be situated in a beautiful 400 acre estate, but is also close to Coventry and the superb travel links of Birmingham.
The site is steeped in history, with records showing that a coaching inn occupied the location from 1640, having been converted from the mill that was previously in situ. The claim to fame of the original hostel is that legendary highwayman Dick Turpin was a guest, but it is unlikely that the infamous robber benefited from the same comfortable surroundings that characterise today's hotel.
The excellent facilities and public areas will only serve to embellish the experience of a golf break at Windmill Village.
The well-equipped leisure club's facilities include a swimming pool, spa pool, sauna and steam room, while the active-minded will appreciate the gymnasium and tennis courts.
The Fairways Restaurant's menu is conceived by international chef Mick Lennon.
Windmill Village's bar has a pool table for some light entertainment.
The Cellar Bar is converted from the original coach house, and is packed full of character.
