Some golfers have taken golf travel to the extreme and set a few world records along the way. Next time you embark on a golfing adventure take a look around and see if there are any world records you could set along the way.

Here are the best of the best golf travel world records:

1 ) The greatest distance between two golf courses that an intrepid golf traveller played in the same day is a staggering 9,931 miles. The first golf course was in Sydney, Australia and the second was in New York.

2 ) Some of the golf courses we send you to for your golf holidays are set in stunning locations and the courses found in beautiful mountain ranges are sometimes at such an altitude that the ball will fly 10-15% further through the air. The highest golf course in the world is on another level though. Sitting at 13,025 feet above sea level, the Yak Golf Course in India literally looks down on the rest of the courses in the world.

3 ) Here at Your Golf Travel we pride ourselves on organising the best bespoke golf tours possible in any given location. However, we have yet to have a customer come to us looking for a golf tour that has spanned six continents! Heinrich du Preez completed 18 holes on six different continents in just 119 hours and 348 minutes. That is a little under 5 days to span the globe playing golf!

4 ) Another crazy golf tour was completed by Patrick Herresthal of Germany who played 18 holes of golf in six different countries in less than 24 hours!

5 ) Rockliffe Hall, The Players Club, the East Course at Dalmahoy and the Wales National course at the Vale Golf Resort are some of the longest UK golf courses on offer. None of these come close to standing up to the monstrous Jade Dragon Snow Mountain course in China, which measure in at a staggering 8,548 yards! Included in this brute is a 711 yard par 5!

6 ) The 711 yard hole at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is long but even that doesn’t come close to being the longest golf hole ever played. In less than 12 hours, a fourball from South Africa played teed off from the 3rd hole at Bronkhorstspruit Golf Club and putted out at the 18th at Witbank GC, 47.34 miles away! The team played a mindboggling 785 shots and only lost 28 golf balls! That’s an average of 106 yards per shot.

7 ) Some of the classic links courses on offer at YGT feature shared putting surfaces the first of which were seen at the home of golf: St Andrews. With such vast greens comes the possibility of being faced with a monster of a lag putt. While most of would be happy with a three putt from that range, Fergus Muir had other ideas and duly holed a putt on the Eden Course at St Andrews that measured an impressive 375 feet!

We at Your Golf Travel have been inspired by some of the following golf world records and some of the team think they are beatable.

8 ) The longest golf shot from a seated position measures in at a paltry 124 yards…surely someone can crack the 200 yard mark?

9 ) The highest number of putts holed in a minute is 15. Each putt has to have been taken from a minimum of 13 feet. There must be a dead-eye dan out there who fancies themselves as the boss of the moss!?

10 ) Some of us are unfortunate enough to hit 139 shots over the course of a round but that is nothing compared to 139 shots in two minutes! Dave Ogron set this record with a friend placing a new golf ball in position after every shot…it would take a brave soul to get in the way of this whirling dervish!

11 ) The fastest ever round of 18 holes was completed by a team of 40 golfers who managed the feat in 7 minutes and 56 seconds. The individual record for the fastest round of golf is 26 minutes and 37 seconds…buggy assisted of course!
