Founded in the mid-1890s, the club commissioned Herbert Fowler to create the golf course. Fowler’s portfolio includes prestigious names such as Walton Heath and The Berkshire, which gives a good insight into the quality on offer at Abbeydale.
Mature woodland sets the scene for the golf course, through which Fowler has carved a layout that flows beautifully. The challenge builds with a number of varied holes that demand complete control of every facet of the game.
Lovers of the traditional courses that were created around the turn of the 20th century may already be aware of Abbeydale, which is an absolute pleasure to play as part of a golf tour around Sheffield.
