Hilton Puckrup Hall Hotel & Golf Club, Tewkesbury

Have stayed here a few times for a golf weekend with my Son. The fact that we keep coming back speaks volumes for the whole set up. Course is always in good nick whether in winter or summer. Honest course with some tricky drives and approaches, but suits players of all handicaps. Staff in pro shop and hotel are just brilliant. Thoroughly recommend a stay and play here.

Welcoming friendly staff clean spacious rooms drinks a bit expensive

Comfortable stay, set up ideal for larger society groups, plenty of space in large restaurant and bar. Only criticism is the drink costs. unnecessarily pricey.

Excellent play to stay

Room clean, comfortable bed, spacious with all facilities expected. Staff welcoming and food in restaurant of a good standard and choice.

Best so far. Been to many trips but this is the best. Staff were superb couldn’t do enough for us. Golf course great condition. Well worth a trip. Will be booking again

Great staff (apart from one) and a really positive experience from our weekend. Food was tasty and portions just right, even for 2 hungry golfers. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. A positive experience for my Son and I on our first break. Would definitely visit again.

Very good hotel,well maintained. Excellent reception desk staff. Indoor pool also very good. Food for our evening meal was very good with a good portion size. Service,however,was very slow and slightly chaotic. They had mislaid the preset menu we had all ordered prior to playing so had to reorder at the table in the evening. Hopefully a slight blip that would not prevent us from returning in the future

Not great.

We enjoyed our stay at this comfortable, clean and pleasant hotel where the staff were very friendly and the breakfast buffet excellent. Our rooms were fine but a long walk from reception. Our only criticism was the quality of the dinner. The fish with fish and chips was not fresh in our opinion and the fish cakes were nearly all potato and very little if any fish.

Hotel building, grounds and facilities really good. Unfortunately the beds and pillows were really uncomfortable resulting in a poor nights sleep

From beginning to end , our stay was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. One thing that would have been helpful would have been if the reception staff had asked if we wanted to book a table for dinner.

Excellent hotel with very friendly and committed staff. Well equipped room, very good evening meal and comprehensive breakfast. Best golfing break we have had and thoroughly recommended.

Room had no air conditioning which meant the temperature was unbearable in the room. It was also lacking a fridge to keep and drinks cold.

Staff very helpful and efficient. Good choice of menu. Hotel fixture and fittings in good condition. Rather a long walk along a corridor to our room.

Lovely hotel , staff were really helpful and friendly. The spa was an added bonus with a lovely pool and sauna . Food was also very good.

Overall trip was Ok but have some observations: - there is no benefit in taking the "dinner" portion of your deal as it was £30 off the menu prices - indeed it probably made us eat more than would normally just to ensure used all allowance - room was ok but must be one of the worst rooms with a view of a roof- really not impressed and we should have been informed before we arrived - could not swim on first night as "class" was going on and sauna was broken - although not directly the hotels fault the mobile signal was non existant and in this day and age i would have expected the hotel to get this fixed. -

Comfortable room, good breakfast, drinks were a little pricey, paid extra on top of the £30 evening meal allowance for a couple of additions but could have eaten a decent meal within the allowance if on a tight budget.

A good hotel experience spoilt by the fact that instead of being offered 3 courses at dinner from a set menu we were restricted to £30 per head from the main menu. The result of this was some in the party did not have 3 courses and made compromises in their choice of food.

We upgraded to a golf course view - the room had a balcony, was spacious and spotlessly clean. Very comfy bed and good size bathroom. The food in the restaurant was excellent. There were hand sanitation stations at every door so we felt extremely safe during our visit.

Excellent golf course and hotel

Good accommodation, good location the hotel was clean and tidy with excellent staff. As with all hotels beer is a bit pricey but you expect that. The food was excellent and the golf course was challenging enough but fair with some quirky holes and in good condition (although the bunkers had taken a bit of a pounding from the recent weather), no negatives and certainly worth a trip.

Perfect set-up for a golf break. Friendly, efficient staff, limited menu but food very good.

The Manor was a total disappointment. Could not sleep in the bed for the 2nd night,, The manager did arrange a change of room . Menu was so limited and had runout of sirloin steak on the Monday evening. Staff did their best and the manager provided complementary wine for Tuesday evening.

Great looking hotel set back in grounds great location just off the M50 reception staff very friendly and helpful with quick book in.nice room spacious and spotlessly clean read a few negative reviews before I went about the rooms but shouldn't have worriedthe only thing was the bed was a little hard but still slept fine.nice bar and outside areas the bar and restaurant staff were amazing considering how busy it was over the Bank holiday weekend always happy to help nothing to much bother for them can't praise them enough doing a very hard job and sometimes unappreciated we were a party of 16 and everyone of us were very happy with the top service they gave us a massive thank you for making our weekend so enjoyable

Generally very good but disappointed the dinning room was closed due to lack of staff. There was some confusion around our dinners as the front desk forgot to inform anyone else our meals were included. Embarassing for the bar staff and myself, but cleared up quickly.

Second visit. Hotel staff very helpful. Rooms well kept. Breakfast excellent. Dinner , food presented was good but menu is focussed on spicy and fried food. There is a need for some plain dishes on each course. Overall very good value for money. Plenty of places to visit within half an hour for non golfers.

The hotel country club was well used by our 24 attendees, all appreciated the free drink after 18 holes. The restaurant was A1 with all the meals commented upon positively along with the breakfast facilities and generous food choices available. As. Part of our stay we budget for4 a free drink before the evening meal, the bar staff fully supported us on this using the meal listing to tick off all our members for a drink which helped our restricted budget, they did this by holding my credit card and going me a key for our members to present when they are served to get them ticked off. All appreciated this service and we would give the restaurant and bar staff a big PLUS for their excellent service.

Excellent accommodation

From arrival till we left the staff where 1st class, the only thing that let the hotel down was no air conditioning in the rooms. Nice forgiving course and overall great break

Great hotel, the food is fantastic,drink price are ok for a hotel.Only one negative is no sports bar.

The hotel was fully compliant with Covid regulations. The staff were working under difficult and changing conditions and still maintained a professional and efficient service.

The rooms and great with first class facilities, all the staff were helpful and my group were pleased with the service provided. The complex is a reasonable size and my group managed to park in three different areas, but we eventually linked up. Breakfast was below par with the options for a cooked breakfast a little limited, and the prices charged within the hotel were we felt excessive and disproportionately high when compared to other similar type golf resorts. Some of the group asked for a bacon bap and coffee and paid £11.75 each which is well above normally, and golf buggies were £25 each per round, again well above other courses.

We have stayed at Puckrup many times before and we have always had a lovely time. Very good value for money, swimming pool and golf course great, would recommend it.

Parking was a nightmare both at the golf and hotel car parks probably parked illegally. The rooms142 and142 were the farthest away from reception and our room was tiny. One bath towel was so thin it had a hole in it, the toilet flush was temprmental and the shower weak.However the worst experience we have ever had at breakfast was Monday morning, it was very busy, got the last table. Self service everything okay but coffee machines not working, toaster not working, que then no food available not enough staff tables not cleared, an absolute car crash. Tuesday okay. Evening meals were okay but will never return, could go on.

A lovely hotel with excellent staff and facilities. However, the cost of drinks in the bar and restaurant, in particular wine, was outrageous. £9.50 for a glass of mediocre Merlot is obscene!

A wonderful setting for a golf break, excellent course layout in very good condition. A variety of challenging holes with well-placed bunkers. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts had a variety of options and the set evening meal was good with interesting choices to tempt most people!

Slightly dated however, this did not detract from an overall pleasant experience. The staff were particularly helpful.

Nothing negative to report. A good honest test of golfing abilities. Pro shop staff are super friendly and helpful.

Lovely greens course good considering the rain we have had

Perfect for society’s of mixed abilities, only a couple of long holes. Fairways and greens not recovered from the dry summer as of yet.

Very enjoyable and plenty of big bunkers so take a bucket&spade

Pro Shop staff helpful in prebooking buggies and explaining course. Course in good condition with greens excellent and quite quick. Fourball in 4 hours seemed about right as course busy.

Loved the layout. Would love to return when not quite so dried up.

Course overall very good. Greens maintained well. Bunkers could do with more sand. Pace of play very slow due to volume of players on the course.

Course generally in good condition, the greens had just undergone spring maintenance so very sandy and lumpy from fertiliser, but did not detract from 2 good days of golf. Would return.

Well impressed by the course, considering the footfall that the course must get. Fairways and bunkers were immaculately presented and golfers were pretty good in replacing divots. Much better than my home course. Greens have just been treated so a little rough, but they have to be treated some time. Hats off to the grounds crew. Shop staff were really helpful and got us going in no time. Overall for our first visit, a 100% positive experience.

Lovely setting with water on some holes and plenty of bunkers. Fairly quiet on the course. Tee boxes could have done with a trim. We all very much enjoyed the course and would definitely return

Booked for 2 days. Day 1 trolly only allowed on front 8 holes and carry on back 10. In my opinion this was the course being overprotecive as the course wasn’t really that wet. Day 2 (after rain in evening) back 10 holes closed. Asked about a refund on fees and the golf pro just laughed. Additionally the club torn of the data that allows scoring on English Golf. I can understand this if playing temporary pins but only the 15th was like this. Club didn’t feel at all welcoming with many rule signs dotted about. Fairways and greens in good condition bearing in mind the amount of rain this year. Hotel also very average. Golf package includes 2 course restaurant meal. It’s only bar food and limited to about £25 spend so choice is poor and supplements are many. Would not recommend!

The course was ideal for a holiday's golf. The greens were a little slow and could have been cut shorter but all in all given the amount of rain recently the course was alright

Despite recent bad weather course was generally in very good condition. Only a few wet patches. Greens staff have done an excellent job in the conditions.

Interesting course.

Very enjoyable 2 rounds of golf. Some challenging holes and greens in good condition. 1st round took just over 4 hours second round just under. Will certainly return to play the course again.

Golf course was great but wouldn't go again due to the hotel having no air conditioning in the rooms.

Our group of 16 ranging from 36 handicap occasional golfers down to regulars on 5 all thought the course was in very good condition with well designed holes and even after 3 days of playing the same course really enjoyed it . We will definately be back

Enjoyed the course and the professional staff were friendly, also the bar staff and all the members too, the greens were very fast, most of the par 4s were long, 3 of the par 3s were long too so a challenging and very interesting course overall, we were a group of 4 friends and we all said that would like to come back probably in the summer.

A good test for the club golfer just a shame that mud was becoming a problem

Bearing in mind the time of year and the amount of rainfall, the course was in tremendous condition with all holes in play. There were some areas roped off but this did not deter from the golf. The greens were excellent. Great 19th hole too!

Played 3 rounds feed back from our group was positive only complaint was the greens had been treated and were very sandy

Nice layout. Undergoing course maintenance- fairways covered in worm casts and greens covered in sand, bunkers compacted, some pin holes worn. A real disappointment and under those conditions, not one you’d want to play.

Really interesting and varied holes

The course was in good condition, greens were good, not the fastest but consistent, the bunkers had taken a bit of a pounding from the recent weather. There are some quirky holes and lovely views, we’d certainly go back and recommend both the course and hotel to others

The golf course was fine.

Well organised tee times good instructions from pro shop nice staff and helpful with questions we had about the course good practice putting area but no practice chipping area and only one practice net could possibly have a couple more considering the size of the place.the course was in excellent condition fairways were well cut and maintained most greens were in good condition and the course provided a very good challenge to most handicaps very good feedback off all our society members will definitely come back here again

The course was quite busy with members and visitors but everyone kept moving. Overall an excellent couple of days

We are a mixed group of husband and wife golfers with different abilities and this course was excellent for us all. Challenging yet manageable plus lots of interesting holes. Staff were very helpful and club members very happy to chat to visitors. Take plenty of balls if you don’t like water ! A great week.

Being the first time many of our 24 group had seen this location they were all. Initially positive about the venue, once on the course they really appreciated the work the ground staff had done in dressing the course and the designer in dressing each hole with well located bunkers, we even on the last day had one member with a hole in one on the 18th. When I talked to everyone in the group they all responded with its one of the best they had played on the only slight negative were the small stone in the bunkers, as very few went into the bunkers this was only a minor issue which the course dressing made up for. The course senior section payed before our last tee off and not one complaint from our boys on a pitch mark on the greens brilliant. They all want to come back again with exceptionally positive responses.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the course. Some very memorable holes and a nice mix for players of all abilities. Overall, not long and despite lots of tree lines and hazards (making it very aesthetically pleasing), difficult to lose a ball - ideal for this coaching break. Ed (great guy) Director of Golf and his team in the pro shop were super helpful!

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the course considering the amount of traffic. It was well maintained. It offered a range of challenges and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Some holes were long and two of the ladies struggled to play in regulation but the remainder of the group were totally satisfied.

The course itself is a delightful and fair test of golf, not overly long but with some interesting and different types of holes, with some blind shots being made it was better the second time around. The area had been subject of some moderate rain and the greens retained the water, but that didn't affect the roll of the ball. Most of my group were delighted with the course. You really need to keep an eye on tee times, which were changed between the initial booking and the final confirmation, and not to our benefit. teeing off at 12 midday on day 2 was not something we had initially bargained for. Overall a lovely break, but not one I suspect we will repeat hence the value for money review.

Lovely course every hole different challenging enough for all abilities. Very enjoyable.

We had perfect weather and enjoyed the course, being picky some paths are very bumpy and the course a bit out of balance but really no complaints.

A lovely, but challenging course with some very long par 4 holes.

A busy course with the usual range of abilities playing, at times the high handicappers caused slow play.

Tremendous course in excellent condition. Not long however, certainly challenging right from the start. The first tee presents a challenging shot over two large trees. Later holes, specifically the 14th and 17th present further challenges. The course is well marshalled which prevents slow play. Excellent experience, would certainly recommend the course.
